Call me old fashioned but I'm going to wait to hear the songs before crowning Sweden winners of 2017 On paper the Fooo Conspiracy seem like the most obvious winners, they're like Sweden's One Direction.

What a slap in the face to poor Anna Book after she was promised a place.

Oh my days that Sweden line up.

When does Melodifestivalen (That is 99% completely wrong but I'm writing essays on the feasibility of Marine Biology magazines and am slowly going crazy) start so I can clear space in my schedule to watch it?

EDIT: On second thoughts, has anyone ever been to it before? I'm thinking of going to that semi final 4 on the 25th.

That boyband will have the kiddie/app vote for sure, however they have recently dropped a member, so it's not completely a sure thing for them.

4th Feb.

Meanwhile in Belarus... the accordion guy is back and doing the same act he did in BGT.

Yep, Lukashenko is definitely voting for this.

I wonder what Napoli is ripping off this time? And will she admit to rigging the vote again?
Haba Haba.

oh and so much for Christer's promise to Anna Book last year after the Moldovan fiasco....

She's nowhere to be seen.

Thankfully.

No Margaret either after all the excitement of yesterday.

And this is for Makson.

No Samir och Viktor? Go away, Sweden

Belarus literally has no quality control in place at all, does it? :s

Melfest line up looking good!

Have very high expectations for Loreen and also Jon Henrik. Can she really come up with something better than Euphoria? Unfortunately, at the moment, I just think it could be another case of 'Rocks and Honey...' as Bonnie said

Looking forward to Charlotte, Mariette, and Wiktoria. I hope Charlotte's schalger banger lives up to expectations, but I can see it being one of those that comes last in the heat

This account has virtually all 60-odd Belarus auditions on it now.

Some of my highlights/WTFlights of the day. Most of these I only want to progress for entertainment/car-crash value. Sometime this evening I think the final line-up is announced.

Napoli - Channelling the great Haba Haba this time.
Zheka - Haha! This is like the slutpop trash I inflict on DSFE. A wasted journey from America methinks.
Angelica Pushnova - That kind of anthemic electro-ballad I like.
Navi - I want to toe-tap and clap my hands along to this. Don't change it to English. Much better than their last attempt, which I wasn't keen on.
Daria Matveeva - I'd love this if she stopped screaming.
July - It needs some work, granted. But I like what it's trying so far. It's upbeat at least.
SHIR - A mid-noughties Greek knock-off. I know it's dreadful, but I can't help myself.
Belarus Grannies - Choreography on fleek. It's catchy, so sue me.
Vitaly Voronko - Great lyrics, an accordion and a polar bear. What more could you ask for?
Elena Salo - Opera Skaala in 20yrs time.
Milla Roz - "One. Two. Dance. Dance." "Dance, dance, dance girls. Dance, dance, dance boys." A geriatric poppers o'clock anthem this.
Diana Gromova - Pleasant enough pop number. Sounds a bit demo-ish though.
Kattie - Nice, safe ESC ballad. Phil will like this one I bet.
Pavel Pashky - Purely for the WTF-ery aspect.

Edit: Oh in the time I waffled on doing that, they announced them. Belarus 2017 playlist.

Glad that Napoli, Angelica, Navi, July and Kattie made the cut.

OMG! What a line up! Its like an all-stars Melfest!

8 of the 28 already won at least a Melfest Semi before! A Quad of ex Eurovision performers including 2 Champions and then other recent Melfest acts like Ace, Dinah and Boris, just incredible!

I guess it is a race to 3rd place then after Sweden and Russia 1, 2 *yawns*

Yes it is all good for MelFest. Yes I will watch every second of it but who can compete with it all? No one. BBC line up is going to be so amature compared to THAT.

Even if Napoli doesn't make it this time, she's already secured a place in Turkvision as Poland's debut entry

Having heard all the finalists, I think they'll choose Nuteki, but I'd prefer Navi or July.

Is it OK if I ask how MelFest works? This is my first year getting into the whole NF season. Is it basically just 4 semi finals and 2 qualify from each from the grand final? I also heard something about an Andra Chansen round? How does it work?

Sorry for asking so many questions

Oh in the time I waffled on doing that, they announced them. Belarus 2017 playlist.

Glad that Napoli, Angelica, Navi, July and Kattie made the cut.
Well, isn't this interesting. Glad to see Navi back, but sad to say that there's not a 'Running to the Sun' in sight. Three utter dirges for every half decent act. Good luck, Belarus!

Lermont x Julic - 'Heartbeat' - Such fun! it's like one of the joke acts on The X Factor that you can sarcastically bop too. That said, it was horrific.

Anastasiya Sheverenko - 'We'll Be Together' - Token movie ballad, quite pleasant but a little dull in its entirety. Beautiful voice and she is smokin'!

Nikita Hodas - 'Voice In My Head' - Wail a bit more why don't you! Odd talking section. Well, it's certainly unique. That's my only positive.

Vadim Kasputin - 'On The Red Line' - Creepy vibes, not sure why. Not for me. Reminds me of gobby Ryan from BB in a couple of decades.

PROvokatsiya - '#MyLove' - I don't. I literally have nothing positive to say about this. Really. #NonStarter.

July - 'Children of the World' - I'm more interested in the dance routine. At least it's upbeat after the last load of dirge. Meh.

Navi - 'Historyja majho ˛yccia' - I love these guys. So upbeat and jolly, just what I needed. Best so far by a country mile.

Angelica Pushnova - 'We Should Be Together' - Two decent ones in a row? Surely not! Better than most of the dirge on offer here but nothing outstanding.

Lexy Weaver - 'Be Stronger'- What is she wearing? Lovely voice but this is in contention for the dullest of the dull award. Catchin' some z's.

Vladislav Kurasov - 'Follow The Play' - Interesting voice. It would help if I could understand it. Not sure where they could go with this. Dull.

Nuteki - 'Take My Heart' - I'm sure I've heard that opening music before? Reeks of plagiarism. Shouty nonsense. Go buy yourself a Lemsip.

Napoli - 'Let's Come Together' - Bless her, she's so desperate. This time she's even ripping off the ESC slogans! Ger on to Poland, love.

Kattie - 'Wild Wind' - Room for a lot of swaying in this. Classic ballad. It's not exactly bad, but I much prefered Anistasiya. Great voice.

Well, I have to plump for Navi out of this lot. I would so love to see them light up the stage in Kyiv. Anastasiya & Kattie have perfectly nice ballads. Angelica Pushnova's offering is also bop-worthy. Napoli rounds out my top five.

4 semis of 7 songs each, the top 2 from each qualify directly for the final. Then 3rd and 4rd place go on to the second chance round (Andra Chansen) where they face each other in duels and the winner of each duel goes to the final. 12 finalists in total
