Because of course you wouldn't have been moaning at all if Ukraine had been beaten by Russia or Australia...

Australia are allowed back next year on the proviso that they send The Veronicas
![]() Imagine if we sent Mutya Keisha Siobhan next year. They're not exactly unheard of, their career is going down the toilet so it could be a good thing for them, they have a reasonable gay following AND they're capable of carrying a choooooon. |

The Eurovision Twitter has been tweeting out a Q&A with David Walliams by mistake. So random!

I'm getting seriously pissed off with this woman now. Watch from 3 mins onwards...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMhLyEZ1_YE 'You wrote one and half years ago when annexed Crimea. It's about that? Why not call it 2014 instead of 1944' 'Sure, sure, but it wouldn't have been accepted into Eurovision because it would be seen as political' 'It's our secret knowledge' Can't remember the exact words but. ![]() Edit: If this is true, I mean I don't know the language, she says that the EBU told her to be careful in not as many words. |

She. Won. Get. Over. It.
to clarify: this isn't aimed at you Foxi, but the Russian fanboys/bizarre conservative political analysts who probably never even watched the show but still think Jamala is the devil. |

The song was written about 1944, but she acknowledges that the same sentiment could be attributed to what happened two years ago, but that wasn't her main intent, and that's probably what the EBU advised her on. It's not the same as Georgia 2009, where they said "screw Putin", were asked to change lyrics and REFUSED.
I think this year has resulted in a need for transparency in the rules about political lyrics because it's all very ambiguous at the minute and open to the EBU's discretion, but as far as I can tell Jamala operated within the rules and in good faith, and her character shouldn't be attacked. |

![]() The fact is, we all knew it was about this, but because she hadn't said anything then it was deemed acceptable. But this interview took place before Eurovision and after her meeting with the EBU, it's just very very shady. I would've respected her a lot more for sticking to her guns but she's kind of handing this to the Russians now who are obviously doing this to cause trouble.I don't know, I guess what I'm trying to say is, had this interview been uploaded before the contest then surely her song would've been disqualified? It's a real shame it's all become such a mess. Edit: And, I aren't attacking her, more her judgement? I don't know, it's just obviously been done in a way to make sure they weren't disqualified. She knew she was in the wrong yet could go through this 'lie' if you like. Just my opinion, anyway. She's played the competition as a game. ![]() Edit 2: These loopholes really do need to be closed for future contests so it can't happen again. |

I think the best thing to do is wait another week, by which time nobody will care anymore

Does this mean we'll be getting another EBU statement tomorrow?

Yes, but if you're going to pretend that this is your 'secret knowledge' it's probably best not to reveal everything on national television?

They're a consistently high-ranking country at Eurovision and it was only a matter of time until they won again. |

Hooray! Gogglebox has been extended by 3 eps and WILL feature Eurovision tomorrow! Got a feeling they won't be huge fans of Jamala!

I have a feeling they might show some of the new voting - tension potential but also comedy potential if the Gogglebox-ers find it confusing.
