Interesting discovery CfK. I've listened to it twice now, very atypical for Eurovision, which may be a good thing. As a song itself, it's okay. The staging is of course key and the Ukrainian selection is going to be epic this year. But hey, what do I know? A song of no clear genre, with straight-up wailing in a language nobody else speaks about ethnic cleansing won, anything is possible now....
I hope they don't go down the 'ethnic but disposable' route and send crap a la GreenJolly just to avoid bankrupting NTU further by winning again? Unless of course ARD or the BBC agrees to stage it for them…. It'd be nice, we've got the money, it's not like we'll ever get the chance to host actual Semi-Finals other-wise....
It'd be a tad obvious if they did self-sabotage and play into Russian hands and no way are they gonna be happy about the prospect of Jamala smiling until her face melts because she has to as she hands the trophy to a triumphant Russian. Presumably they are already praying that Romania pull off a blinder spurred on by Ukrainian and Bulgarian success coming straight after absences or that it goes to another Nordic country, I think we can discount a Big 5 winner already (what’s the chances France build on last time?)
And I don't care - what the hell, caution to the wind. Vote Saara!
