Oh this political argument is so boring now. If Ukraine should've been dqed for being 'political' then Russia's peace songs should've been dq'ed as a song about peace is not political no? Also so many different songs could be interpreted as 'political' as well. Your Not Alone could be about the Britain's membership of the EU *rolls eyes*

Nicky still blaming the Eville Eastern block. He said only Western countries finished in the bottom 4, forgetting that Norway beat Slovenia and Albania.

Also, I was reading the tweets about his performance too and the vast majority of the positive comments were from Irish people. A lot of people thought the song was bland and that his singing was bad.

Maybe Ireland, Denmark, and UK failed because all the teenage girls were busy drooling over Donny Montell for some inexplicable reason.
I can't even @ this. It's like Waterman post-2010 all over again.

I just want to be 'bitch, really, you think you were going to do well singing THAT SONG now. He works in radio, surely he most know what a modern sounding pop song is, which Sunlight was not.'

I have a feeling they might show some of the new voting - tension potential but also comedy potential if the Gogglebox-ers find it confusing.
That lot would find wiping their own arse confusing.

This sums up the hysteria over this year's result perfectly.

They're not exactly Mensa material are they?
Not that Mensa is much of a measure of intelligence anyway of course.

Well if they never changed the format then there would be no hysteria

There would, only people would be trying to discredit Dami instead because heaven forbid Australia actually won Eurovision

Exactly, there are loads that would have to be disqualified as they 'could be political', the winners from 2014, 1997, 1982 and 1990 as well as all those songs that had to do with the Berlin Wall coming down plus many more over the years. Most countries have surely been guilty of this at some point.

And each year, I'm reminded of this:

Agreed. The meaning behind 1944 may be political but there's nothing specific in the lyrics so I think the EBU did the right thing when they decided not to disqualify the entry. It would be ridiculous if singing about people getting killed was enough to disqualify an entry.

I see that the Wiwi's have just decided to usurp the Barbara Dex award for themselves

Well, they do write...

As Europe debates the winner of the Barbara Dex Award 2016, we decided to run our own poll to preview the potential winner.

haha, small-print r us

The way to get behind them would have been to push more traffic to the official site, not run their own poll to make people feel like they've voted!

2004 and Liam Fox was my first "half" contest. By half I mean I was sent to bed after the songs ~9pm was bedtime on Fridays and Saturdays when I was 10. That was the same for 2005. But 2006 was my first full contest as I started going to bed the same time as my parents at 12 onwards. So technically 2016 was my 13th contest.

well, 1999 is the first contest I have any memory of, I fell asleep and I thought Charlotte looked 'scary' even back then as a 6.5-year-old. First proper contest memory is 2003, I remember I nearly cried at us getting null points.

My first contest that I remember was 97 and my Auntie was moaning that katrina was American when she won
