Brooke's certainly taken her chorus-writing skills to the next level, I must say:

2016
"...We're golden, golden
Golden, golden
We are"
2017
"We're unstoppable,
We are, we are,
We're unstoppable,
We are, we are,
We're unstoppable,
....
Oh, we are,
We're unstoppable"

Brooke's song in Malta was written by the team behind Gabby's "I Stand".

Haha!!

Brooke's song in Malta was written by the team behind Gabby's "I Stand".
I was trying to think why it sounded familiar. Now you say it, it does sound like I Stand with a bit more oomph and bass to it.

They also wrote her last entry "Golden". Feel sorry for Gabby now, "I Stand" is easily the worst of the three.

Just listening to Brooke, honestly I get a little bit bored of all these modern female power ballads about being Unstoppable/Survivor/Warrior/Fighter etc. It's a job to separate one from the other these days.

i cant say i agree with you at all. i found i stand to be quite special wheras golden and unstoppable seem quite common to me.

i agree. the trend this year also seems to further expand this one 'power' sort of title of a song to events from mythology and gods (osiris, exodus, apollo)

Ok. Maxine Pace wins MESC for me this year. She's just so fun and likeable. Catchy song too, something she's done without just repeating the same two words *cough* Brooke. I take it back, I like this song just as much as her last entry.

That's true, it probably was more unique but I know what I'd rather listen to.

Gabby did great to even qualify for Czechia. I think she made the song, to be honest.

I do like the song but if chosen could it be considered a bit inappropriate to singing happily "boom boom boom" and reference to bombs exploding in Ukraine. Not sure if the people of Ukraine would see the irony of it or might be offended by it and think Malta were being a bit insensitive

All of MESC is pretty meh. I don't understand how Malta can consistently send good quality songs to JESC but fail to produce a song which has a hope of winning...

I can see the broadcaster invoking their new rule again which means they can change the song as they did with Ira this year. It is a pretty poor selection of songs and the even the best ones from Maxine and Brooke will struggle to make the final.

Why? They are pretty much the only reliable source

Absolute bizarre decision by ESC/EBU. Why though? They have the rights to them! Is it not commercially viable enough?

So does that mean you either watch it live, or you miss it completely?

Unless someone records and uploads the official stream (which is probably illegal so I wouldn't do it myself). Some broadcasters did Youtube streams last year which were saved as a catchup show after it had finished (Ukraine definitely did, can't think of any others immediately).
