That's a shame, Eurovision.tv was great for letting you catch up on finals without seeing the result first. To be honest the national finals were pretty much the main reason to use the site, as you get better news on the fan sites.

Maybe someone could set up a thread on here this year with spoiler-free links to national finals when they're available on catch-up?

I looked on the site and there is nothing mentioned

Sad news if true I wonder why? The EBU have been pushing broadcasters to allow them to broadcast finals and most of them seemed happy enough with the exception of Sweden I think. Was it EBU or the broadcasters who made the decision - EBU - too expensive/not enough interest or the broadcasters wanting everyone to watch their stream?

I found this on fb (I guess OK ro repost. Its public after all)

Sietse Bakker A bit of background here; we won't use Octoshape anymore for these live streams, as YouTube provides a very suitable and accessible alternative. Because most broadcasters have their own YouTube profile, or stream via their own platform (unlike in 2008 when we started this service), we will either provide full support and guidance in getting them to stream on their YouTube channels, or promote their own platform. Of course we will continue to provide full overview of where to watch ánd encourage broadcasters to make their streams available for an international audience. And for 2017, Eurovision.tv will be full of surprises ...

Well, at least that's something.

Also, the earlier statement has been removed from the website.

That sounds a bit more encouraging! Like avb said, the web player is the only reason to use the main site really. It'd be a shame if they stopped showing the finals of the NF's as the main site guarantees the stream will hold up and the archive is ideal for re-watching finals when there's 4 or 5 at once or if you happen to miss any.

The only NF that I have seen on YouTube live stream is Ukraine and that played brilliantly. Does that mean we'll get adverts or will we be treated to about 30 minutes of silence and stagehands sweeping the stage?

I take back what I said earlier, then.

I actually prefer when the streams are on YouTube as I find it much easier to stream on my TV. So hurrah for that!

Although Eurovision have been very active on their YouTube channel this year. I do wonder how long it will be before they stream rehearsal footage. Plus Eurovision.tv was never iPad friendly.

Whilst saying they'll get broadcasters to promote their own services, whilst great, it's not really going to help. Smaller countries are not going to shell out so that their servers can handle the amount of people wanting to watch for 1 night a year.

Dead and buried at that Phil! Scarily enough this voyage down memory lane wouldn't be out of place amongst what was offered last night.

Ooh on quoting your post, I've just seen we've got some new Christmas emojis on DS!

Another fun night of FiK, then? I ditched it towards the end last night as my stream was playing up. My favourite was probably Xezika or whatever her name was though.

Loving the new emoticons!
