I have thoughts on the diaspora voting... in a nutshell, I'm still convinced that the system is still fine -- the songs that people like are the ones that do well. I have faith in that system. Fair enough (or perhaps unfair enough), some might slip through the cracks, but in general the songs that do well, are the ones that people like. I've heard of a few people who liked Poland, and I wouldn't be so rash to say that all of those people are somehow wrong because they like a different song to me...... .... one of my friends messaged me randomly last night before I turned my phone off, and I quote: "Germany just killed it in the Eurovision". Make of that what you will. The juries are doing their job (even if they perhaps need to be reformed further i.e. Miss Selfie of Russia and Mr Armenia) Other points.. I didn't like Petra in semis as discussed here during the week.. but thought her and Mans did a tremendous job in the Grand Final, so pleased to have a turn around. ![]() Brequette (I think it was Brequette) pulled a hilarious face when Justin Timberlake was being interviewed. Whoever mentioned the Loreen lookalike during the Love Love Peace Peace.... that had me howling too. It was the way she shimmied across the stage. ![]() Quote:
Her first verse will always be a highlight of that eurovision
. Her staging was great, my favourite moment of that year's eurovision was when she strutted her way down to the platform and rose up on that stage! #ThanksKatieTaylorSortOf |

oh the shame of it.....standing outside the Telenor Arena in the biting wind like an over the hill hooker trying desperately to sell her wares and failing.....
"You selling tickets?" "Yeah, it's for the Party" "Eww, no thanks....." ![]() ![]() Approached by over a dozen folk, but no sale. The sight of Jamala wigging out furiously to Justin Timberlake will stay with me for a very long time! |

Never mind Russia and Australia, I'm so relieved that Sweden didn't win again , especially with dull song. Plenty of other good things in melfest we could have got behind if they had sent it.
I think a lot of NF's cocked up this year on what they sent. |

And another thing... because I had to try and stay spoiler free, I had a terrible night's sleep last night, tossing and turning because everybody else (in the world) knew the result except me.
I ended up dreaming that Ireland came second even though it didn't count - it was a fake 2nd. On the scoreboard, Ireland was in 2nd place but it was greyed out. It turned out that they decided to reopen the phonelines and have a just for fun semi-final wildcard to see where it would place amongst the final entrants...I'd probably describe it as a night terror. |

Hello, I hope everyone had a great Eurovision! I haven't been lurking as much as usual, but thought I'd pop in with my thoughts that I'm sure nobody cares about.
Four of my favourites were top 5 so I'm happy for that, as I don't think that's happened before! The show was as per usual excellent in production, and the Swedes really do just get Eurovision. The new voting system made for an absolute nail biter and I think it's a great system, but so very very brutal for the lower entries. The saltiness from the Russians (in fans and the delegation) is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. I can't remember them being so bitter last year coming second and being more consistent in the juries and televote. It's kind of pathetic the way people are going on the Jamala performances to dislike. Go do something else with your time, good grief. While she and Ukraine were my favourite since NF season, it's perfectly understandable to not like her song, but the level some are taking it, is very extreme. I'm glad I've only seen a 'few' islamophobic sentiments in amongst the hot mess of keyboard warrior hate spewing and cultural ignorance. It's still very frustrating and demoralising to see though. I think Jamala is a great artist in her own right so to see this level of injustice entitlement levelled against her is a bit saddening. Oh well. Hope everyone has had a great Eurovision season. See you on the other side.

Hey new thread just in time for the off season.
![]() Now that most of the non-believers have gone and it's back to us regulars I really want to say that this Eurovision season has been one of the greatest. My absolute highlight was attending my first ever Eurovision event in April and finally meeting some of you guys and what a great bunch you were. (And I'm guessing you still are) ![]() I'm not even gloomy that it's over because I know NF season 2017 will be here before we know it and we're all like 'OMG I can't believe Melfest is already upon us it feels like just yesterday we were gearing up for [insert contemporary host city here]' as is always the case. Hope you all have a lovely summer!

The sooner they take us off the main page the better. If my eyes roll any more at the 'UK should pull out' thread I'll need optic nerve surgery. ![]() Well said Foxy, London was just another level amazing. Bring on London 2017. I don't even care who any of the acts will be, my ticket is getting booked as soon as they're released! SBS has taken yet another swipe at Norton. The BBC and the UK press would never at this level of defence. Granted we don't have much to defend, but god if only our media would galvanise and show as much passion! - http://www.sbs.com.au/programs/eurov...urovision-2016 Quote:
