I'm thinking about going next year, when should I be thinking about it, accomodation, tickets, etc?

Do we really think there is a chance that Lviv could host Eurovision? http://wiwibloggs.com/2016/05/24/wil...n-2017/142651/

Booked a hotel room (free cancellation thank god) just in case it gets the nod. Although my god accommodation prices in Ukraine are cheap compared to Stockholm.
Not impossible but I'd be surprised, might be reading too much into it but Jon Olalala Sand seemed to make a point in the winner's press conference of saying he was looking forward to them hosting in Kiev, almost as if to say don't even think about trying to host it somewhere else.

Definitely do, can't recommend it enough. Even though I thought the overall standard of songs was actually slightly better last year, the whole thing was so good this year, Sweden were fantastic hosts.

Ulf the tickets normally go on sale in November or December, they'll announce the sale date on the Eurovision website beforehand. Generally there are still plenty of hotels available then, although hotel options can potentially be a little more limited in Ukraine than in some other countries.

I don't think I'd want to go to Ukraine though. But one day I must!

Hotels I booked now (with free cancellation via booking.com) as its worth getting in early before they increase hotel prices.

Tickets as avb stated usually in winter, with occasional addition sales in the Spring.

Also, I agree I 100% recommend going to Eurovision, although going with someone or knowing someone who you can do stuff with would be better. Only issue was going to Euroclub etc on my own post-events was quite dull at first.

I see Andorra and Luxembourg have already released their annual "No, we're not participating next year" statements.

Thanks for the replies.

That's good to know about tickets; I'm going to South America for a few months but I'll be back in early November, just in time.

I have a friend who's also interested in going next year (she's already been to both the 2008 and 2013 contests), so I'll get in touch with her before deciding anything.

Pity really, it seems contrary to the spirit of the thing if the smaller countries self-select out almost immediately, particularly given that Luxembourg used to be so good at it historically.

It makes our defense against the "it's all political" comments seem laughable . Makes you wonder if the uk really could ever win again too!

It's a dispiriting read. Not many come out of it smelling of roses.

Interesting article. Condemns a large number of countries : Russia, Malta, Hungary, Armenia, Montenegro, Greece, Cyprus, Sweden, Moldova. Seems the more "honest" countries don't stand much of a chance. So many shady backroom deals going on.

Maybe time to scrap juries and award televoting points 1-26? A top 10 is so dominated by diaspora voting as to be almost meaningless.

I don't think the jury vote can ever be clean unless it's done blind, without any juror knowing the country of each song. And I don't know how they could do that

There are so many "confidential sources" in that article. So much speculation presented as fact.

Who would take betting advice from someone calling themselves "Gavster"? (someone who was convinced that Frans was going to win easily btw)

Does anyone really care that much if more political songs get entered? They'll still only win if they're any good.
