Old Disney v New Disney and no surprises that old wins out. Congrats Ross! My favourite Disney film ever.
![]() Loved Try Everything though, because well who doesn't love Shakira? Plus the fact it didn't actually sound like a Disney song. ![]() Fabulous hosting, Foxy. Really enjoyed that round and I definitely want to check out Zootopia now! |

Well I still never received a PM to confirm which of my choices I got, but great to see they're all there anyway.
![]() Great Disney contest, Foxy. Haven't gotten around to watching Zootopia yet but I adore Shakira. Thanks for those that voted for Dig A Little Deeper. The Princess and The Frog vote is a lovely film and well worth a watch. |

Pinocchio was the second film to be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios following Snow White. If you think this song sounds familiar it's probably because a segment of its melody is used for the Walt Disney logo shown before the films.

Also congrats to Ross for winning. Great hosting, and we could easily have a part 2.
I also requested AWNW, but think the Peabo Bryson/Regina Belle is much better (and also sent it to Fantasy once so but lame to repeat) |

Review time!
Kati Wolf - What about my dreams? Hungary 2011. Crikey, was this already 5 years ago? I still remember hearing the original Hungarian version of this song (which is way better) although having not heard this song in a while it does sound just as fresh. Barei -Say YAY! Spain 2016 I was really disappointed when this won the Spanish NF (Electric Grandmother woz robbed!) but it grew on me like no other Eurovision song has. Sebastian Tellier - Divine. France 2008 Russell Brand's Dad. Proof that Conchita wasn't the first beared lady to grace the Eurovision stage. I forget how terrible the camera work is in this performance, one of the many novelty songs from 2008. Tinkara Kovac - Round and Round. Slovenia 2014 It's enjoyable enough but replace Slovenia 2014 with Slovenia 2015, now we're talking! Karolian Goceva - Od nas Zavisi. Macedonia 2002 I'm really struggling to find a tune in this, her effort in 2007 was much better. And those golden abs with that red dress do not a good look make! Firelight - Coming Home. Malta 2014 Why do I always expect them to sing 'It's only because I'm here I'm finding gold in my....paaants!' the female solo is my favourite part of this otherwise vanilla song. Sjonni's Friends - Coming Home. Iceland 2011 Aww, does anyone else remember when this won the NF in 2011 and everyone was crying with happiness? I can't help but really like this song mainly because of the tragic story behind it, if you don't like this song it's because you're dead on the inside.XXL - 100% te ljubam. Macedonia 2000 Don't worry Geeky, this is a little guilty pleasure of mine too. ![]() D'Nash - I love you mi vida. Spain 2007 *cringing in Spanish* Edurne - Amanecer. Spain 2015 Never really got the fuss with this one when I heard the studio version but the live performance really does bring it alive. Joe and Jake - You're not alone. United Kingdom 2016 Why are people so surprised at how badly this scored? The song is a middle of the road One Direction B-Side with cringe-worthy lyrics that are so cheesy they must have been written by Dairylea. Lovely guys though! Charlotte Pirelli - Hero. Sweden 2008 [sarcasm]Wow, never heard this song before! Totally original and inspired song choice![/sarcasm] Bitchiness aside this is an absolute classic and my favourite from 2008. Of course there has to be lasers, everybody knows cats love lasers.Minus One - Alter Ego. Cyprus 2016 This just reminds me of the London Preview Party where for a brief second I thought the guy with the long hair and goatee playing the bass was Conchita, I really did! ![]() Nadine Beiler - The Secret is Love. Austria 2011 Maybe someone didn't get the memo but the contest for the best Disney song was last week. ![]() Hanna - Leave Me Alone. Finland 2007 Eurovision goes Emovision. God this reminds me of my emo phase when I was 16, dying my hair black, wearing eyeliner and skinny jeans and listening to Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, My Chemical Romance etc. and pretty much hating life in general. Love this! Elhaida Dani - I'm Alive. Albania 2015 One of the better Albanian entries of recent years mainly because it wasn't chosen via the grossly outdated and tediously drawnout dullfest that is Festival of Kangaroos. Filipa Azevedo - Ha dias assim. Portugal 2010 Another one of those 'haven't listened to it since the Final' songs and not much reason to really. Following immediately after Lena she stood no chance. Alenka Gotar - Cvet z juga. Slovenia 2007 Having a little glowing light in the palm of your hand used to look awesome until De Toppers did it in 2009 and it suddenly became uncool. Not the first time this song has been used in our little shindigs, I've never seen the fuss really. Lucia Perez - Que me quiten lo bailo. Spain 2011 Oooh I remember this came on at the London Eurovision Party and I really wanted to dance to it but both me and Lisa were utterly exhausted after dancing like mad to the acts earlier in the evening which felt like a 5 hour workout! I get many fond memories of 2011 listening to this. Lior Narkis - Words of Love. Israel 2003 Ugh, make it stop! Rita Guerra - Deixa me Sonhar (So Mais Uma Vez). Portugal 2003 This finished lower than Israel? Sacralige! Amandine Bourgeois - L'Enfer Et Moi. France 2013 I love the French language, it does sound like she's calling someone a 'merchant banker' (wink wink) during the song which wouldn't surprise me if her stage demeanor is anything to go by. ![]() Roger Cicero - Frauen regier'n die Welt. Germany 2007 Germany's Michael Buble. I have a very confident hunch over who sent this one in. May he RIP. Getter Jaani - Rockefeller Street. Estonia 2011 One of the most catchy songs in the hisotry of Eurovision. Remember when we were convinced this could be a potential winner? That was before the live performance of course! ![]() Lisa Angell - N'oubliez Pas. France 2011 Even more poignant given recent events in France. Oh and hello Thimsy! |

Hungary 2011 - Still a better vocal than the winners.
Would've finished so much higher in any other year with that point haul.Spain 2016 - Took a few production tweaks to make me finally Say Yay and then it all unravelled with the staging and Brequette and the other banshees slaughtering the backing vocals. ![]() France 2008 - 'Divine' That's a bit of an oxymoron. More bearding on that stage than in Taylor Swift's failed contractual love life. Slovenia 2014 - Peak Slayvenia. Still love this. <3 Macedonia 2002 - I'm with Foxy on this, her later attempt is much better. This is just 3mins of nothingness. Malta 2014 - I've gone off this a bit since then. Reliving his vocal is not helping. Iceland 2011 - Unbelievably naff. Coming Home?... I'd make sure to lock the doors. ![]() Macedonia 2000 - Add me to exclusive guilty pleasure club. Spain 2007 - Wouldn't have otherwise liked this, but there wasn't a lot to get excited about in 07, even more so after the semi final wipeout. Spain 2015 - Now imagine this with LoveWave-esque staging instead. Oh Spain why do you shoot yourselves in the foot so much? ![]() United Kingdom 2016 - Those low camera angles from in the crowd still bug me. It's just too nice, and safe, and DMGP also-ran. Sweden 2008 - Still amazing and deserved so much more! Cyprus 2016 - G:son can make anything palatable. The BBC should be breaking their neck to get him to help save our arses next year. Austria 2011 - Nothing more this sickly sweet, Disney vanilla could've done. Finland 2007 - There's no more superlatives I can give this under-appreciated masterpiece. Albania 2015 - Hey burbles. This was far too good for Albania. I still can't unhear "shat on my dreams."Portugal 2010 - More forgettable Disneyvision. Slovenia 2007 - Malena Ernman she wasn't... Spain 2011 - Why the terrible video when the proper HD version exists? These latin tinged ditties always flop, but they bring me so much joy. I also remember being dead on my feet by the time this came on in London. I didn't realise how unfit I was until the agonising aches and pains caught up with me. ![]() Israel 2003 - Please kill me now. Portugal 2003 - I feel like this appears in every Eurovision themed contest of ours. France 2013 - I still can't with this. It's just too French. Germany 2007 - Dreadful. Estonia 2011 - Will never tire of this. If Haba Haba was my alternative 2011 winner, then this was my alternative runner-up. ![]() France 2015 - Sorry, but *vom* I already know I'm dead inside. |
