Waiting on 7 sets of votes for Heat 2.
You've got until 5pm, but the earlier the better since I'm multitasking the Olympics at the same time. ![]() PLAYLIST |

Waiting on 7 sets of votes for Heat 2.
You've got until 5pm, but the earlier the better since I'm multitasking the Olympics at the same time. ![]() PLAYLIST The Weedy Review Magi Djanavarova – Boring. Sounds like every other female ballad I’ve heard recently. Marian Hill – It’s a duo, with a blonde girl (short enough to be Welsh) wailing away. Lots of pretend automated fingerclicks and computer-generated vocals. And dull enough to put me to sleep. Micky Modelle+Jessy – Bog standard Club anthem. So why is the nob who adds the computerised backing beat named first instead of the poor girl singing this trash? Bjørnskov – Yet another yawningly tedious male whine. Antonia aus Tyrol – A clearly inferior programme to Allsang Pa Skansen, (they are miming), but a dark-haired damsel bouncing up and down singing German schlager can’t be ignored. Suspect this is Drew’s, but where is the accordion? Rachel Platten – She is certainly eye-candy, but the song is more of the same anthemic female crap. Sergio Sylvestre – oh the anguish, oh the pain. Why do I torture my ears with yet another awful male ballad, exactly the same as all the rest? Fletcher – (I refuse to capitalise the name.) “My sound is a hybrid — a fusion of tribal influence and pop sensibility”, she says. Pretentious crap I say. I did hear a banjo at one point. Oh and she looks up to Miley Cyrus as a role model. I despair. Five Knives – noisy electronic pop rock song, from a US group with a female singer. Mø – The Danish virgin, singing some repetitive electropop nonsense. Min from ST 319 – Is the bloke called Henry? Min, I’m coming, Min…. (one for the oldies). Sugary pop for Vietnamese children. Mary Lambert – More tedious chubby girl angst. Snore. Faithless – electronic dance music that can only be interesting if you have taken those tablets with the happy yellow face. Is just tinnitus when sober. Ina Wroldsen – Sounds exactly the same as several of the preceding grizzling women in this list. Lucia Popp – Slovak opera singer whose picture is surely inspiration for one of Queen Freddie’s outfits. Music from the Magic Flute. Finally, a bit of culture. The song is currently on its way out of the Solar System, courtesy of Carl Sagan and Voyager1. (Obvious youngster response deleted.) Nanne – And from the sublime to the ridiculous. Ladies of a certain age should not wear shorts. (Take note Carola). Or stormtrooper outfits. Electronic schlager rock, now that’s a novelty. Zhang Bi Chen – A Chinese miserable ballad - just what we needed, another dull song . Alvaro Soler – Oh thank the Lordi, something cheerful. And some bendy women. Perhaps the FM should have saved this for next week? Its pretty bland. Pink – Angry young woman needs Valium. Now. (Other tranquiliser brands are available). Or a good slap and lessons on how to behave. Spare the rod and spoil the child. Juliana Pasha – Ex Eurovision artist wears ridiculous frock and shouts at the audience. I bet its warm in there. Next. Freddie Kalas – Fat bloke fails to get to Eurovision, but sings happy schlager song anyway. Could be worse. Go!Go!7188 – Wonderful, (he said in a very sarcastic way), a Japanese pop rock song about a carrot, from a girl group with a ridiculous name. Frøder – Yet another caterwauling woman with the same song. Ricki-Lee – What a lot of horrible screaming and howling. I turned the sound down, and watched the video again… Elinoora – Gah! A Finnish artist and its not a heavy metal band, its some tinny sounding girl. Epic Fail. Disturbed – And speaking of heavy metal bands… this isn’t. Where are the howling guitars, the riffs, the thumping bass. Its just a karaoke remake of Simon and Garfunkel. Another epic fail. I have only ticked 3 for votes - I may have to go by costume for the rest.

Weedy at his grumpiest best I see. I don't think anyone is wearing an 'I Survived The Weedy Review' t-shirt after that!
![]() You've all been good and got your votes in. I'm going to be cheeky and drag the results forward an hour to 4pm because I want to watch the swimming heats at 5pm.

I didn't get completely destroyed by Weedy's review so I'm hopeful.
This is actually my favourite ever entry so I don't really mind how I do because I love the song.

I actually love my 12 pointer so much I hope it does better than my own song. But of course if I win then that's all well and good too.

Okay who's ready for some results?
Who's going to be Usain Bolt and who's going to be cast adrift like the Russian athletics team?

Heat 2 Results
Taking the wooden spoon award. Was on 0 until today, I guess you didn't want more of this old skool club anthem.

Our first foray into the Asian scene today. Not loved by DS as much as that four chair turn on The Voice China. Rooted to 25th all week.

Wearing its age a little this one, but a few of you took to it although not enough for it to ever gather any steam.

Inoffensive Asian pop. Nice enough for the end credits of a Nintendo game perhaps. Bit of a scatter gun set of votes.

You suspected right, weedy.
![]() Keep the cheap schlager flowing indeed! Those pensioners in the crowd are loving it, as was I. I thought Frodo, (as I've been calling her all week) would've done better. You don't want to go over the wall, that's where the White Walkers live! Picked up a little today, but never looked like cracking the top 20.
