Phill's Review
#1 Alexandra Stan was this really 5 years ago, so catchy #2 Girls' Generation One of the better Girls Generation songs we have had entered here over the years #3 Zara Larsson Can't believe how big this has become, I really like it #4 Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg Love Katy, still think the video was unnecessary though #5 Dua Lipa The chorus is really catchy and just gets stuck in your head #6 Spiller feat. Sophie Ellis Bextor This is a classic remember this being everywhere when it was released, the video was always shown on The Box at least once an hour. #7 Las Ketchup If this comes on in a club today everyone will rush to the dance floor #8 Sheryl Crow Not a fan of this. #9 Stevie Wonder This was OK #10 Kaoma Took me a while to realise its the same tune as that J Lo song from a few years ago, this was alright #11 Clean Bandit Used to like this till the M&S adverts ruined it #12 The Beach Boys Could probably enter any Beach Boys song this round #13 Lovin' Spoonful This wasn't for me #14 Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina Its the same tune as that Kaoma song in parts, its OK #15 Len I quite liked this #16 Učiteljice I really enjoyed this #17 Vanessa Amorosi What ever happened to her? This is a great anthem #18 Michael Franks This was a tad slow #19 Wham This was one of my friends favourite songs, whenever I was round her house she would always end up singing it #20 Vengaboys Another classic from my childhood #21 Jakatta ft Seal Never really been a huge fan of Seal. #22 Bellini Loving this. #23 Martha Reeves & The Vandellas I quite liked this #24 Don Omar ft Lucenzo I'm sure I've heard this before, liking it though. |

Best Non-ESC song by an ESC Artist Volume....etc etc
Hello all, I hope we have all been enjoying the Olympics so far. In case there is a lul in activity, we have our next contest to keep us occupied!
Best Non-ESC song by an ESC Artist So basically, what it says on the tin...any song released by an artist that has previously competed at ESC (just not their Eurovision one or any NF one). Artists who have competed in Eurovision groups are eligible to be entered as a solo artist. Please check the wiki to ensure your entry hasn't been sent before. http://dsfantasyesc.wikia.com/wiki/DS_Fantasy_ESC_Wiki Contest open! You have until 5pm on Sunday 14th August to get an entry and link PM'd to me. Happy searching! |

Thoughts on multiple songs by the same artist guys? I know we had 2 Conchita ones last year, should I put a limit of 2 or 3 per artist/team like Olympics?!

How many hours after the 'nothing pre september' deadline do Switzerland normally debut their entry????
Having serious withdrawal that the tweeness of the singing kids of JESC will never cure. We already suffered ONE Sandra Kim-and 30 years later eardrums of many fans have never recovered |

Non-ESC song by an ESC artist!
Right, after some deliberation I have decided I'm going to have to limit it to no more than 2 songs per artist, as it would just become silly if had 4 or 5 from one artist.
I'm taking a stand! |

Found a break in the Olympic action to check out the Summer bangers playlist!
No time to do a full review, but I'd definitely give it a gold medal or even a special platinum one, the tunes are non-stop! Lots of fresh, new, old and oh yeah I remember this one moments.

Reviews!
So since the forum seems to be dead atm, thought I'd add some reviews in while enjoying the Tennis, before Athletics and Swimming action starts again! I am a little obsessed with the olympics but I'll try and keep things separate....
#1 Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat - Some Romanian pop will usually go well with me, and I've always liked this song, have it on my mp3 player for the car and it has a nice summery feel. Good shout to them making the Mens doubles tennis final, their Gymnastics glory days are well behind. #2 Girls' Generation - Party - K or J-pop and me are just never going to get along and this is no exception, just stick to things you are good at like Archery and Judo. ![]() #3 Zara Larsson - Lush Life - Love this song, glad it became a big hit here a few months after its native lands, real good summer tune, her vocal control live is awesome. Fantastic performance from the footie girls earlier beating the USA on penalties, I had my Swedish flag out and everything! Hope they can grab a medal, Sarah Sjostrom can't do all the work! ![]() #4 Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg - California Gurls - I get that this is a summer song...I've just never really thought of it bring like one as in my mind its always summer in California. USA unsurprising topping the table, their swimming is crazy. #5 Dua Lipa - Hotter Than Hell - I've heard this song a bit recently and its decent and makes me want to do interpretive modern dance while imagining I look like Edin the Melfest dancer. I just dont find it that summery. Albania very small team, but big love to Gega, she is ace! Really gutsy little runner! ![]() #6 Spiller feat. Sophie Ellis Bextor - Groovejet - Obviously this song has been around a long time, and I have never once thought of it as being a summer song! Maybe thats just me. Italy Gold and Silver in the ladies shooting today and I think Helen Skelton is a great presenter of the swimming (Ex blue peter - Sophie ellis mother....tenuous link I grant you) #7 Las Ketchup - The Ketchup Song - Now we are talking! What a tune! This was the big song when I was on holiday in Spain in 2002 aged 11 and I remember the crazed reaction I had to hearing it on the radio in the UK (but not until October!). Many a memory of doing the dance with a load of random Dutch and Russian kids. Spain could get a couple of tennis medals here, and as I write this they are 5-2 up and serving for the first set. #8 Sheryl Crow - Soak Up The Sun - Love a bit of Sheyl, and this is an underrated gem. Chilled out summer vibes for sure. #9 Stevie Wonder - For Once In My Life - Summer......right.....I mean its a great song, but again this is one I have never associated with being summery! Its a nice listen though. Stevie will be looking forward to the Paralympics I'm sure. ![]() #10 Kaoma - Lambada - Oh its not J-Lo....its nice and original, defo summer vibes here, just a little too placid for my ears though. Overall so far Brazil seem to be pulling this thing off, toxic green pool and all. #11 Clean Bandit - Rather Be - Love this tune, but again just never been a summer one for me. I remember driving in a snowstorm in February when this was number 1. I for one love hearing it on the M&S adverts. A fantastic games for GB so far, a brilliant couple of days! #12 The Beach Boys - California Girls - I do like quite a bit of the Beach Boys stuff, but this is not one of them. Has anyone done a Katy Perry Beach Boys mash-up yet? #13 Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City - This is great, a real toe tapper. just maybe a little too background. #14 Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love - Another Holiday tune for me! Loved this so much back then, another Romanian, they do these summer tunes well. #15 Len - Steal My Sunshine - Classic!!! I used to love this when I was growing up! Been so tempted to enter it into fantasy a few times but just wasnt sure how it would do, this is a great contest for the song. #16 Učiteljice - Šok - Now what do we have here....The Croatian Timoteij, this is great! Croatia doing alright so far with golds in rowing and shooting. #17 Vanessa Amorosi - Absolutely Everybody - Another classic, horrendous outfit in the video though! Speaking of Olympics, I'm sure she performed this at the closing ceremony, Sydney was my first proper Olympics being able to remember things. On a side note, before my sister moved to Malaysia I remember looking up their censorship and this song and video are banned due to graphic violence and aboriginal content! Australia as always doing well, maybe a few disappointed swimmers though.#18 Michael Franks - Summer in New York - Well its certainly chilled....thats about it really. #19 Wham - Club Tropicana - I was expecting this one to come up! This suits the theme and the Olympics really well! Greece got a couple of medals in shooting so far, none for small Cyprus so far, but only one in 2012 so maybe not too many hopes. #20 Vengaboys - We're Going to Ibiza! - Classsic, although its not quite Boom Boom Boom Boom (which was my 1999 holiday song along with Ricky Martin!), it is still a great tune. I loved the Vengaboys! I dont think they did a song I didnt like. Dutch having a good games so far, and of course Big Daf still to come...! ![]() #21 Jakatta ft Seal - My Vision- Classic tune, I can imagine myself dancing away to it in clubs if I had been old enough! Seal's voice is just great, he randomly performed with a busker in the middle of Manchester a couple of months ago! The girl who was busking was beside herself! Music videos with snakes in them are never going to win you many extra points with me however! #22 Bellini - Samba Do Brasil - And now the true Brazilian flavour! I do faaaaaaaaar prefer the original song however, dont mess with a masterpiece!! #23 Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - Heatwave - classic Motown and its a really solid effort, I just have a few more favourites of theirs and this pales in comparison. But good effort for a summer round! #24 Don Omar ft Lucenzo - Danza Kuduro - I remember hearing this song and trying for ages to find out what it was, it took me ages pre-shazam days! It is a tune! Right, time to work out some points before the athletics starts again in 10 minutes! Had to rush a bit at the end! Keep submitting for next week!
