I really don't think the Polish result can be put down to just diaspora. Remember they only came 15th in the televote last year. I managed to persuade my German flatmate to watch the final for the first time ever and his favourites were Poland, Cyprus and Armenia. I don't doubt the Polish diaspora votes will have helped but I definitely think the song had a broader mainstream appeal than we all gave it credit for.
I loved Poland i voted for him. hit me on a very emotional level which is why i think he did well. It had more substance than many songs. Some wont get it but i and many others did.

I kind of want Simon Cowell to get involved. Like it or not, he has a nose for talent, and you can bet he'd get the promo right. The BBC strikes me as well-intentioned and keen, but they just don't have a handle on the current state of the music industry.

Or we throw the established method out the window and enter a metal band. Nothing to lose.
I agree! i can see him becoming the bjorkman of the uk

Rybak talks a lot of sense there!
I don't think we've ever discussed betting being a factor before?

Could Poland doing so well because of people trying to claim back all the money they placed think Margaret was going to win? Did Russia get all the televotes as so many people had placed money on it?
He'd have more of a point about betting if the odds on favourite hadn't ..er, come third. And he's wrong about the system being the same as the one used since 2009. It's not even the same as the one used last year! But I do agree with him about Poli!

Most of them Polish.

On a serious note, like you say, people must like it as people all over Europe are buying it. I didn't expect that.

It would have been overshadowed by The Netherlands too. In fairness to Joe and Jake though, they could certainly sing. Seems a shame they finished two places above Jemini who couldn't.
Absolutely loved joe and jake and wanted them to push their performance a bit miore. but they did well. sounded great. Truth is there was much much better songs were in the contest. I always love our entries but always loved other songsthat far suprpassed ours

So confused why J&J are beating the likes of Iveta and Samra on esctracker. Maybe it's a grower?

Oh, I am so over analysing everything, I need to shutup. Short of sending out a detailed questionnaire to every single jury member and televoter, I'm just making informed guesses at best and honestly, whilst I'm still baffled by a few things (*cries about Iceland for the 40th time*), I'm sort of over it.

Sorry if that sounds super negative nancy and I mean no judgement to those who continue to analyse, I'm just all-analysed out personally

And no to Alison Moyet from me. And Cowell.

While I'm disappointed that my beloved Serbia completely flopped and only just scraped through to the final, it's cool to see Sanja received the second most set of 12 points in the televote (and still only managed 18th place overall)

No to Cowell

No to Moyet

No to being mean to Destiny, she is amazing! But why on earth didn't she sing? Even little Italian boy got a couple of lines in last year

She can still sing even after she slimmed down

Someone entered a recent song of hers in one of our contests a few years back and it was really good

This would do really well at Eurovision https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n-wtJyh2Co4

In fact, I think I entered it in a Fantasy Round! It would probably have got an Anouk style result.

Barbara Dex award voting now open - front page of the website says that it's the last year for the award and for the website?!?!

EDT : If Ivan had gone fully naked, he would have won by a landslide
