You didn't say I shouldn't express my opinion, i was just clarifying that is what i was doing, not that i believed my opinion to be fact.
I also just have it on as pretty much background noise whilst I do other things but as it is not intellectually challenging, it all goes in with only partial attention. I'm hardly sitting in front of it, giving it my full concentration and taking notes as I would do (and have done for television reviews I've been paid to do in the past) if I were presenting a detailed analysis of the subject. I will go back and check something if it is queried on here (or by a friend/colleague etc) though - that's just the kind of pedantic mind I have - I like to be sure of my facts and when it is just a matter of checking a recording from a couple of days earlier, it is easy enough to do. Not that I want or need to be proved right to other people but I prefer it for my own peace of mind - on any subject in life, serious or trivial, real or fictional. We're just discussing it with a level of seriousness in the context of the fictional world we watch. Also, sometimes with a view as to what the writers intentions are in presenting certain subjects the way they do. It is just shorthand to say "i really hate how Piper is being such a brat, Iif she were mine shek5 be grounded" than "I really wish the writers would stop writing the fictional character of Piper as such a brat. Do we think they could write the fictional character of Terese as grounding her as that would be what i would do if my child in real life behaved as the fictional Piper has been written. But i'm not annoyed as i know it isn't real and i'm not taking it seriously" about every observation anybody has.

who is having a go? ( except you it seems) - merely making a point and if you all know how lovely and lfluffy neighbours is then why talk about Elly and Piper as if they are real people? (she should do this she shoud do that?). I know what you mean about the EE thread though - some on there are truly barking, very reflective of the show itself.
So, given we invest time in watch them, that they are presented as real people, with real feelings and real motivations within that, why is it so odd to discuss them as such? To comment that Brad has got over his father and sons deaths very quickly etc. I don't see the point in watching a show if you don't have an opinion on a character and thoughts on how you'd like the story to take them. It's no different to watching 'Gone with the Wind' and wishing that Scarlett could persuade Rhett to stay with her so she could prove that she loves him. Or commenting on her being a pain through most of the book/movie. |

That sums it up perfectly kitkat. If we were to precursor every post with a "i know it is not real but this is my take on how the writers are portraying such and such a character" type comment then we would be all worn out - and bored rigid
![]() Did I get last post of the page by the way? Am I official owner now? I'll have to go back and check. I worry for Sid or perhaps Sally as Ari kept saying she after today's ending. I don't see her surviving this latest encounter. ETA: I did! |

Anyway, getting this thread back on track...
I really liked the Steph/Ari scenes and (the SFX of) hissing Sid. I wonder how Ari managed to escape and bust out Sid at the same time? Mark was ignoring is phone for an unrealistic amount of time. At least he wasn't acting quite so bizarre as yesterday's episode. But, did he say he was applying for compensation for being injured in the line of duty after he got away with illegally bugging the confessional? I know the two things are different, but it doesn't sit right that people's confidentiality was invaded by him and he gets a payout! I think we should all be corrupt hero cops in Erinsbourgh. Win! I don't see any chemistry between Ned and Elly. In fact they seem a little toxic. Like, in several years time, she'll probably still be a nagging bitch, and poor Ned will be miserable lamenting how Lauren got away (they had great chemistry). Elly must be the first character that everyone unanimously dislikes. I've not seen one person defend her. Why was Amy so concerned for Paul? He's brought all this on himself. Why wasn't Amy more concerned about Steph? The man that run down her son had possibly abducted her friend, and she put more effort into worrying about her dodgy father who's scheme backfired on him. Priorities, Amy. |

And my posts are long and boring enough already, without all that extra explanation each time!

I don't see her surviving this latest encounter. ![]() ![]() ![]() We are 100 or so pages into part 3. If you do a couple of mega posts you might start us off with page 4. At some point this thread will be deemed too long and someone else's name will go under the title on the soap forum page. I quite liked it being mine but it's time to pass on the honour to a different deluded nutter . Maybe if Neighbours has another storyline that is interesting (or ridiculous) we'll all post more and we'll be on a whole new part.

I am also amazed at Therese and indeed the paying public of Erinsborough putting a pigeon race above a nice new restaurant. Strange indeed.

I did laugh at Elle stuffing the crisps under the counter and taking out the salads as Ned walked in. Maybe she has a problem with food as well as everything else. She has multiple issues it seems. I want to like her but every time I soften a bit towards her she says or does something horrible and I am back to square one!

I would also rather go to have a nice dinner at a new restaurant (even if I didn't like the owner) than stand around waiting for pigeons to return home.
The free truffles wouldn't have been enough to swing it for me. |

Elly stuffing her face with those crisps and then hiding them and acting like she was healthy eating made me laugh today... Not as much as the hissing sound effects that was made everytime the camera focused on the bag that was completely still that was meant to have a snake in

Is it safe to come here and agree, that the pigeon/cat storyline was a step too far.
Paul has become a cartoon character, he's beyond boring and needs some new direction. But I'm pretty sure he'll get with Therese pretty soon, somehow AGAIN cross her and that will be the end of them until he becomes mortal enemies with the next woman/love interest. |

The fuse box scene was oozing with sexual tension. Stefan and Rebekah work well together. I know our Lobs hates Paul so maybe if the story is that she smothers him with her power boobs during a saucy session we can convince her that those two getting together is the way to go ![]() |

Puts me in mind of a film called Deadly Weapons, starring Chesty Morgan, a young lady reputed to have 73" boobs (even bigger than Therese's I would say) who used said boobs as DW and did for various men by suffocating them. I didn't see the film by the way but their were posters all over the West End and one of the blokes from work went to see it and said that's how she operated! Go Therese! |

I've not seen today's episode yet, but Mark is going for compensation? He wasn't injured in the line of duty. He was suspended and should have been nowhere near the action. He really is being a muppet lately. I still would though.

A local psychopath with criminal intent escapes from jail. Do you:
(a) surround the street where the victim lives and immediately get her to safety or (b) ring the local cop who is off on sick leave and hope that he picks up the phone If you answered (a) apply to join your local police force. If you answered (b) apply to join Erinsborough police force. |

I did gape at Mark needing somebody else to say that they'd seen somebody drive his car away. Did he not notice it wasn't on the drive or in the garage? And if he did notice and just assumed Tyler or Aaron had it, why did that assumption change when Gary said he'd seen it being driven off but not who was driving?
Thick as pig.... |
