Best Actor

Stefan Dennis. Damien Richardson a close second.

Best Actress

Kate Kendall

Best Permanent Newcomer

Gary easily. Though I like Xanthe and the Tanaka twins. I even like Elly. No duds which is fantastic

Best Guest Character

Ned Willis. I really like him with Elly.

Best Departure

I guess Josh Willis. It sure wasn't Kyle's.

Best Storyline

N/A

Most Improved Character

Aaron Brennan. The acting has improved from Matt Wilson and his friendship with Amy is great. Yes he's had a few meh stories but overall he's a great character.

Worst Storyline

The stupid baby quad with Sonya, Toadia, Mark & Steph. Just shit. It's managed to ruin two great couples.

Worst Actor/Actress

Jenna Rosenow. Thank god she's gone.
God she was dreadful.

People tend to watch more TV?!? Otherwise why would our soaps save their most dramatic moments for the Christmas/New Year period. And people seem to have lots of days off over Christmas and into the New Year.
You'd think so but they really don't. Ratings take a dip either side of Christmas and on the day itself it's way down on a normal day. The reason that the soaps save up their dramatic moments is precisely to counter this. To get an audience anything like normal they really have to pump up the drama.

Totally agree with Mavournee Hazel! She's been a consistently fantastic actress!

Since Neighbours is over for another year, ive decided to do some "Neighbours Awards" which could be quite interesting to see what everyone classes as their favourite moments of the year. Please add your own lists, or if you feel that this is a bad idea then feel free to ignore it!

Best Actor

Stefan Dennis. His portrayal of Paul when he was wrongly convicted of the Hotel Explosion was fantastic. Even though we all knew all the bad things that Paul had done in the past, you still managed to feel very sorry for Paul and that was due to the excellent acting from Stefan Dennis.

Best Actress

Mavournee Hazel. Some fantastic acting from Mavournee this year. Her acting during the Hotel Explosion, when she was informed of Josh's death was amazing. She seems to steal scenes with some amazing performances over the year.

Best Permanent Newcomer

With only Xanthe, Gary, Jack and the Tanaka's to choose from it has to be Gary. Although he has appeared before he was only a temporary character back then and now he has been brought back as a regular we seem to have seen a change from Gary and he has become an incredibly entertaining and fun character. His relationship with Sheila and Xanthe has been fantastic and the Canning family have become on of the best Neighbours families.

Best Guest Character

Ned Willis. Having a vendetta against Brad, falling in love with Lauren, burning Jacka's mums house down. It has been an interesting year with Ned. There seems to be a lot more to come from the character, lets hope he gets a permanent role.

Best Departure

It has to be Josh Willis' death. Very well acted from Harley Bonner and it was one of the most gripping Neighbours scenes in years.

Best Storyline

Hotel Explosion. It had the lot. The best week of Neighbours episodes since the Plane Crash.

Most Improved Character

Sheila Canning. She has really come into her own with more family coming into the show. Sheila when she is angry is just fantastic. Neighbours would be much worse off without her.

Worst Storyline

Fairly random but Aaron just becoming a social media expert and a boxing promoter was way too far fetched.

Worst Actor/Actress

Kip Gamblin. That dreadful acting of a man who has lost his son and father on one day was some of the worst acting you will see. He just couldnt be bothered to put any effort in.
Best Actor
A shout out for Felix (Ben) and the lad who plays 'Jimmy'. Both are talented and have grown through the year.

Best Actress
I agree with you. Mavournee Hazel has been outstanding this year. A real gem in the cast. The producers need to do all that they can to hold onto her.

Best Perminant Newcomer
I will go with Xanthe. This year, they have toned her down. We have seen her vulnerable side too. I am a real fan.

I probably agree with the rest.

I don't actually thonk Sonia was smirking. It was very hard to read but I think it was a mixture of emotions, primarily, "####, what happens now re people's reactions"
I don't think it was a smirk either. I think it was meant to be a second of happiness and then the realisation of the situation she's in.

I really hope this is true, but the only sources I've been able to find are the thread about it on here and Wikipedia.

How would Gibbons be reintroduced? I guess the only current person who would remember him is Paul Robinson?

I'd say it's a dead cert. Look at the actor's CV and it's right at the top after his latest tv guest appearance which was this year. It's in chronological order.

It's great news. Sure he wasn't one that I was dying to see again but any 80s character returning is always great news.

He's a doctor so it would be fairly easy to reintroduce him. Karl may even know of him. It would be great to see Paul have a friend his own age with him knowing of Paul's history.

I won't lie I would have much preferred to have Shane Ramsay or Henry back but it's still great news.

Let's just hope he actually returns as Clive Gibbons. I don't want another Ally Fowler, Gloria Ajenstat or Darius Perkins scenario.

Would be interesting for people that watched the show back then and remember him, but not so much for the newer fans who'll not have a baldy who he is.

Best Actor

Stefan Dennis. Damien Richardson a close second.

Best Actress

Kate Kendall

Best Permanent Newcomer

Definitely Gary, he reminds me of an old school Neighbours character, Joe Scully or Joe Mangel.

Best Guest Character/s

Ned Willis. Special mentions to Jai Watford as Angus Beaumont-Hannay and Brad McMurray who played Jacka.

Best Departure/s

Josh and Doug Willis. Very well acted by both Harley Bonner and Terence Donovan.

Best Storyline

Hard to chose one, really because I didn't like either the hotel explosion storyline or the hot air balloon crash, the two which were meant to have the most impact. I am interested to see where the surrogacy storyline goes as long as it doesn't fall into the boring cliches and predictable path.

Most Improved Character

Aaron Brennan. Matt Wilson has improved tremendously since he first started and Aaron is now one of my favourite characters.

Also Elly. I didn't like her much but Jodi Anasta has also improved and I'm starting to find Elly a little more likeable now that she's shown she does have a softer side.

Worst Storyline

The baby storyline seems to be not so popular but for me it's Typer. A combination of the set up for them getting together has been so drawn out in 2016 that I'm already bored of it and it seems likely 2017 will see more Typer storylines. Not looking forward to that. I don't see any chemistry between the two characters/actors and there's been so much hype about them on social media that I think the pairing is quite over rated but that's just one person's opinion for what it's worth.

Worst Actor/Actress

Have to agree on Kip. I just don't see him putting much effort into his role as most of the other cast members.

Everyone that has done the Neighbours "awards" list have all selected Stefan Dennis as the best actor. It shows how good he is that no other actor has been selected ahead of him. The actor/character combination is one of the best in all soaps with Paul Robinson/Stefan Dennis.

Best Actor
Can't think of any outstanding performances but Alan Fletcher is always consistent.

Best Actress
Kate Kendal always shines. Honest and real. I'd hate the character to leave.
(It would usually always be Jackie Woodburne but she has taken a backseat of late.)

Best Permanent Newcomer
Surprisingly Gary Canning! Without a doubt. He's charming and very likeable. He reminds me of Joe Mangel.

Best Guest Character
Ned Willis. Massive impact on Neighbours this year. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I'd love him to become permanent.

Best Departure
Doug Willis. 😪

Best Storyline
Lassiters Explosion/Doug and Josh's death. 💥💥💥💥💥

Most Improved Character
Aaron Brenan. I love Aaron now. He was as wooden 🌳as they come when he first arrived now he is one of my favourite characters. Positive, happy and a hottie 😍😍
Aaron in a tight suit phew 😅😍😅

Worst Storyline
Father Jack and Paige's relationship. 💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤
Please just let it be over!!!!!!

Worst Actor/actress
Ellie!!!! Aaaaaaaaa! 😤 So unlikable! Martha is one of my all time favourite H&A characters but I can't feel compassionate or remotely sorry or anything that the character is going through lol Suppose that's the character though isnt it. The actress is doing a perfectly good job. Ellie is supposed to be Marmite (or Veggiemite lol) 😨

Actually the worst actress would have to go to shhhhhhhh (massive Charlene/KYLIE fan) Sarah Ellen as Madison Robinson!!! 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

I'd like to see more Hilary in 2017. Am I confused or wasn't she supposed to be getting a job in Erinsborough?! Did I miss that? More Hilary please!!!

Am hoping the original actress that played Kim Taylor will be back as the Tanaka mum. Shame they used Darius Perkins in another role. Would have been cool having him back as Scott Robinson for a few weeks!

Wouldn't mind Aaron's Quill boyfriend back. Think they worked well together. I liked Aaron's kindness and compassion towards him despite him being a bit of a baddie!

Looking forward to seeing the character they have said is coming back from 88/89 and seeing what he's been up to! He was a favourite character back in the day. Maybe he has some teenage children to add into the mix.

I'd also like to see more Lucy Robinson please. Love that Jason Herbison has all of these reoccurring characters like Charlie, Angus, Hilary, Lucy, Tim Collins, Ellen and Lucas. It makes Erinsborough seem a lot more realistic. Was good seeing Angus' dad Peter turn up too. Jason has got it right. Surprises are good too rather than knowing the storylines weeks in advance.

Best Actor
Don't know the actors name who plays Gary, but him.

Best Actress
Definitely Kate Kendall. I see her as the next Helen Daniels if she stays long enough.

Best Permanent Newcomer
Gary Canning

Best Guest Character
Angus

Best Departure
Doug Willis

Best Storyline
Dougs dementia

Most Improved Character
Piper. Couldn't abide her when she joined but I think she's one of the best characters in the show now. Also honourary mention to Aaron.

Worst Storyline
Lassiters explosion. Just tedious.

Worst Actor
Sarah Ellen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking of introducing a new spoilers thread that would bring together all spoilers for the Neighbours such as newcomers/returnees/departures/deaths/upcomingstorylines and also prevent having loads of different threads for each individual spoiler. It would also mean that Spoiler chat could then be removed from this thread making it much more beneficial for those who wish to avoid spoilers and just comment on the present days episodes. Thoughts?

I think if people use spoiler tags then there isn't an issue

I was thinking that but for instance if you look above the spoiler tags have worked until a poster mentioned
Spoiler
Therefore undoing the point of the spoiler tags in the process. If all spoilers were on one page then it could ensure that this thread doesnt give any information away to those who prefer to be spoiler free.
