She's changed from how she was before. Now she seems to stomp and flounce and behave like a brat when she was completely different when she first arrived. Xanthe was showing some promise but she's been written as a completely self absorbed moron again. The current crop of teens aren't good at all.

Please don't provoke more Piper posts! The silence has been quite pleasant!

SO in Neighboursland women cleansing in French maid outfits is wrong, but Aaron and his Chippendale act was OK? What happened to that anyway / (Not that I want it revived!)
But it is double standards - it's OK for Mason, Kyle, Tyler, Ben, to drop the Daks but women are not allowed to be saucy!

It is how Neighbours chooses to be. It is way too PC at the moment to an almost embarrassing level!

They really aren't a good bunch. I still find Ben the most annoying out of the bunch. Him being a moron and trying to "own" his decisions is just pathetic. The fact is he has the decision making skills of a rancid potato and the attitude to go with it.

Ben is a long streak of misery, Piper is a brat, Angus is unspeakable, Xanthe is a pain. They are all badly written and I still think the scriptwriters sent out the wrong message when they got away with stealing money and raising it under false pretences. The morality behind that story was questionable yet they're a making a big thing of saucy cleaners! The teens were all thieves! How can that be OK?

To be fair the show almost fetishises Paige's body. That topless scene in the pool the other day probably had teenage boys across the land reaching for the Kleenex!

I'd like to think that most reaching for the kleenex were hoping they could wipe that hideous tramp stamp off her body. It really is ghastly.

Were any of you ever 16? Didn't you ever have a strop when you thought your parents wouldn't let you act like a grown up? Yes I am aware of the irony of throwing a strop when you weren't treated like a grown up. But it is what happens.

Can't John Doe (his name escapes me at the minute) join the church in a position other than a priest? I mean surely he could be a part of the church and have a relationship? And does it matter what job he does for them as long as it shows he is committed to god?

Gotta love Toadie yesterday. "Oh hey Aaron, you set up accounts on three social networks that takes a child 2 minutes to set up. Would you like a job?" Obviously that isn't quite what he said, but if setting up Facebook and Instagram counts as being worthy of a job working for a lawyer, then it's open job market season in Australia it seems.

I think the difference with the guys in Neighbours taking off their tops compared to Amy being a saucy cleaner, is that most of them don't make money from it. I know Aaron was a stripper of sorts, but he didn't toddle off to someone's hotel room to do it. Plus they are sort of painting that guy as a pimp, which in a sense I guess he was.

It is still silly of course, but then lately, as has been pointed out, a lot of what is going on in Neighbours is silly. I wonder at times how old most of the writers are.

BIB - well said.

By 'dropping the Daks' I didn't mean going topless - Daks is Aussie slang for trousers!

Was it implied that Amy offered services other than cleaning?

Certainly Aaron's stripper act had Sheila lustfully enthusing - would they have shown men slavering over Paige in the same way? I know a lot of them do in the privacy of their own homes!

JAck was having doubts about his vocation before he met Paige so I don't think it's Paige or the priesthood. He needs to sort out how he feels about being a priest first and she needs to back off and let him make what is for him a momentous decision.

Yes, Neighbours is silly - that's why we like it. But it does trip itself up sometimes!

As a priest he took a vow and breaking that is a BIG deal, no matter what he goes on to do afterwards.

The only un PC moment we have had lately was Paul calling Aaron a Queen. Other than that the scriptwriters havent produced anything that isnt on the straight and narrow.

Of course I was 16 and probably stroppy with it although I wouldn't have gotten away with it. It's the fact that she is insisting she's old enough and mature but then acts like a toddler having a tantrum when she's not allowed to go out with a 25 year old man. I'd imagine if Terese knew she was planning on shagging him too she'd be even more strict with her. It reminds me of my 8 year old who likes to declare everyone is just mean then flounces out of the room before stamping up the stairs while we fall about laughing. He doesn't get his own way either nor the reaction he's aiming for.

Breaking your vows and leaving the priesthood is huge. It's been his whole life for years and is who he is. I don't think Paige understands what she's asking of him.

Seeing as people don't even finish Uni in Australia before being offered an amazing job I'm not surprised that Aaron being able to use Instagram makes him a prime candidate to be Toadie's assistant . I'm thinking of emigrating as I'm sure I'll be in an amazing position of power within a fortnight .

Aaron and Josh stripped for screaming women in a sexual way. Amy cleaned someone's bog in a saucy outfit. They all were paid well for it and all used their bodies to their advantage. For Amy it's shameful and for Aaron it's great he has such a good bod that women will pay to see him pour baby oil on it. I don't think it's just a Neighbours thing but an overall perception people have. Men who strip - phwoar, women who strip - seedy, dirty, nasty.

I agree with wondering how old the writers are. I'd say ancient as they have a weird idea of naughty cleaners and they can't write for teenagers in a sensible way. We have mean and moody, shallow, self centred and utterly stupid and stroppy, immature child. All horrendously written and the two girls written differently to how they were before. The storylines are wrapped up too quickly and there are too many characters who just aren't good at the moment.

Re BIB She found the 'private video' in the closing seconds of today's epi!

And the attitude to men vs women as strippers - very sexist or a show that tries way too hard to be PC!

Oops. Looks like Piper will be fitted with concrete knickers by Monday .

I think both - sexist because some people still think like that and also far too PC.

Drab and Therese should both realise what a conniving, lying little madam she is! First she gets Ned into trouble about the tattoo - he told her to ask and Drab said No so she went back to Ned and said it was OK - then stood aside and let Ned take the flak! (she did own up later though)

Now she's done the same thing with Tyler - being less than honest is no way to build a relationship. Whatever 'rules' Therese lawn, Piper will disobey if they don't suit her. Remember when Drab and Therese went to the motel to tell her to come home and she defied them? She must be incredibly spoiled and if I were Tyler I would question if I really wanted to get involved with someone who is potentially so much trouble! Her parents have no control over her at all.

Of course we were all 16 once and have experienced our parents saying or doing (like banning us from something) that we didn't think was fair. I'm sure we have all experienced believing we were grown up enough for something when our parents disagreed and who knows, we might even have been right whilst they were wrong. I'm sure we all 'flounced' and screamed and shouted that it was unfair thugh some of us might have vented to friends rather that just letting rip at their parents. I for one would have known that any tantrum would just make them more resolute in whatever decision they'd made, probably make any punishment worse so what was the point.

I have no problem with Piper behaving like a stroppy 16 year old - that's realistic. It is just that it goes to prove the point that she is still only a teenager who reacts in an immature way (strops, sulks, tantrums, ultimatums, lying) and therefore her parents (and Tylers) concerns that she is too young to be in a relationship with somebody so much older than her are valid.

There's a huge difference between being a Priest and just Ann active member of the church. Priests are Gods representatives on Earth for one thing - it is a much closer relationship - a calling that is over powering and takes precedence over everything else - including Earthly relationships. If somebody feels that calling, they are unlikely to feel complete just being a 'part timer'.

There's been this disparity between men and women being objectified in things such as stripping for a couple of decades now. Men doing it, they're still in control and it is 'just a bit of fun'. Women do it, it is sleazy and they are being abused in some way.

Look at the Aaron and Amy storylines here. It has been made clear that Amy was desperate for money, she was a single Mother, trying to clear debts her Husband had left her with. She saw no other way of surviving and hated doing it, is ashamed of having done it. Aaron enjoyed dancing, enjoyed displaying his body, chose to do it when he had other options such as working as a Mechanic. It was fun. He was in control.

I don't think there is any suggestion that Amy did anything more than clean, or indeed that any of her clients did anything (i think we know what i mean) in her presence. But it is a fetish so i guess the implication is that her clients will have stored up the image for use later on when they were on their own. And a lot of people will find that uncomfortable.

I agree the current teens are pretty dire. Piper has become an immature brat and Xanthe has regressed to how she was when she arrived and Ben is just a sanctimonious bore. I too hate that they not only got away with the theft but are pretty much being rewarded with everybody falling over themselves buying them new clothes for their formal (what happened to the Kennedys money problems btw, they bought the new suit easily enough) etc and behaving as though it is the only party they'll have their entire lives.

Exactly this.

She does,'t seem to understand that Tyler didn't dump her because of Brad and Terese, he dumped her because Piper had lied to him. That it wasn't about not understanding that the formal meant something to her, that it was about him doubting whether he wanted to be with her because of how she handled the situation of Brad and Terese not giving permission - by lying to him.
That she is not being 'punished' by him expressing doubts about going to the Formal, or not being with her romantically - he just isn't sure it is something that he wants - again because he has seen a side of her he isn't keen on due to her reactions to the situation.

Yes, if Jack does give up the priesthood it will be after much soul-searching and it won't help if Paige immediately pounces on him crying, 'Goody! I won!" which she will probably do. And I doubt if he will give up the Catholic faith as well - which means he would feel uncomfortable with sex before marriage, contraception etc - and he would still go to mass and confession. The church would still be a big part of his life - and that won't suit Paige at all!

Anyway she bonks Tyler soon - and according to Neighboursfans someone will be up the duff soon..........

I suppose it's down to her being left to her own devices in Canada that they don't give her boundaries and guidance so much. Neighbours parenting in general is quite lax and the kids seem to have plenty of cash (apart from when they have to pay back what they've stolen) and lots of freedom. They'll all end up Iike Paige at this rate . At that age I wouldn't have dared answer back or been defiant to my parents and my own children wouldn't be so disrespectful either. They know I make the rules and what I expect from them and what consequences are. Piper doesn't seem to have any concept of decent behaviour to her parents. You could argue that Brad cheated on her mum and moved in with the neighbour and Terese was drinking and self absorbed but no matter what you should show some respect to your parents not constantly lie and manipulate then flounce off when not happy.

Sadly after a couple of years of LOVING Neighbours (I think it's been a real golden era for the show) the past couple of months have gone downhill for me and I've got to the point where I can't watch it now because none of the stories interest me.

I'll keep checking this forum to see if anything sounds interesting enough for me to tune in again. Hopefully this is just a brief low point before things pick up again.

Apologies for bringing another soap into this but i think it is relevent.

Corrie currenTly have a fairly young vicar in the show who obviously is allowed to date and marry as he is CofE. Hje's also gay.

He's been dating a character called Sean who is constantly complaining about coming second to Billy's job, if he has to cancel a date becase a parishioner is dying and asked to see him or that they can't go on a late break holiday in December (December for crying out loud - Advent). Basically he can not understand that is it not just a job or a career but a vocation and that a vicar's 'wifes' job is to support her husband as the stress is huge and they are doomed to be 'second best' and have things cancelled as something could come up at any time as people don't get sick, die, have crises of faith to timetable.

Now can you imagine Paige being any different to Sean? Look how she was the other day. Fact is, there will always be somebody in Am)'s position requiring his support and letting Paige know will be the last thing on his mind. She won't come first, god and the people of his Parish would (even aside from the no sex thing) and Paige is not the type of person to deal with not coming first.

She won't come first, god and the people of his Parish would (even aside from the no sex thing) and Paige is not the type of person to deal with not coming first.”

She'd be way, way worse than Sean. He's a self absorbed idiot but she doesn't even compare with selfish behaviour.

Yeah people have to understand that being a vicar is like being a doctor. Would Susan moan if Karl ran off to hospital because someone was hurt? I mean Karl is suspiciously on the scene of every accident! But it's his vocation, being a doctor, even if he quit being a doctor he'd always know how to help someone who was injured. And for the vicars it's like that. Helping people, especially with religion, it's what they do, and even if Jack left the priesthood he'd probably still want to pray with Amy and help out people. You don't get into a relationship with a vicar (or a doctor, fireman, etc) if you want to always have priority.
