Maybe but Talksport is all football (and just top 6 Premier league stuff at that) and Talksport 2 is on the Digital platform so not easy to get...
![]() Oh dear! Sonia McLoughlan!! Or "Songee" as she calls herself. Stop bigging up your part luv. Last night's Rugby 7s Final coverage by her was beyond annoying! She talked over Ian Robertson, not letting him finish his summing up, she squealed like a teenage fan girl cos she pronounced a Fijian name correctly, she told us Suva was the capital of Fiji 57 times, we heard the first time! It was an all round Over The Top performance that spoilt my enjoyment of the event. How is this classy broadcasting on the BBC? |

Was Duncan Barks of Radio London just a fill in a few weekends ago or something permanent? Didn't like him on LBC 😒

He was just a fill in as far as I know, but I much preferred him to Nolan and would be happy for him to have a permanent slot.

I'm glad I have a television and the internet. Following the Olympics on 5 Live would have been rubbish this afternoon with all the football polluting the airwaves.

Just imaging him at the Olympics!
He'd be going mad and talking like a motormouth which Savage does anyway! |

What's happened to Caroline Barker? Has she taken some funny tablets out in Rio?
Don't know if she's been told to accentuate the positive, but she has been taking it to extreme lengths! Cackling, trying to fit in a pun a minute, sycophantic, I thought she was trying to outdo Nicky Campbell, but she's the same today! So much sickly-sweet Team GB goo I feel like I'm going to be sick! Is it just me? I normally like Caroline but I haven't particularly enjoyed her output so far in Rio. Mike Costello - excellent, as usual. |

Cracking coverage overnight I thought. Mike Costello, Darren Campbell and Alison Curbs really do work well together and their analysis is usually spot on
Enjoyed the Samuel L Jackson/being 'dissed' anecdotes |

Enjoyed the Samuel L Jackson/being 'dissed' anecdotes The Robbie Savage style of broadcasting is clearly the norm for 5Live now. Not a patch on past years. |

All 3 have hideous radio voices to listen to for any length of time.

Mike Costello's commentary on Mo Farrah's race was a great example of Radio Sports Commentary as it should be done. He conveyed the excitement of the occasion but kept control of both his voice and objectivity. Great bit of picture of him commentating the last 200 meters on BBC website.

Haven't heard a word of it. 5Live is a no-go area for me until the Olympics are over.

Spot on. I remember the days of John Rawling, Bob Phillips and Mike Whittingham. A peerless team.
I remember being ill in bed and listening to the entire Europa Cup event in Birmingham in 1989 with those 3 gents. Quality broadcasting start to finish!Nice to hear Rachel Hodges-Bland back reading the news bulletins today. I hope she stays and replaces Brett on the afternoon show. When Rachel used to interject with Tony Livesey on the 10pm show she was always good value.

Add another to those praising Costello. Jonathan Edwards has been very good at anchoring things over night. A shame that the swimming commentary has been way below par.

On the subject of commentators and presenters, I would award:
Gold: Eleanor Oldroyd and Mike Costello Silver: Victoria Pendleton (a real discovery) Bronze: Chris Warburton (some brilliant people reports and a great Saturday breakfast) There have been good performances from many others. The baton droppers: Sonia McLaughlan (seems to think its some kind of broadcasting X Factor) Ian Robertson (didn't seem to fully get to grips with his commentaries) Craig Heap (I do getting excited, after all it is the Olympics, but he needs telling that high pitched means we can't tell what is going on!) Caroline Barker (Just too much in a morning) Nicky Campbell (He just seems out of sorts and it's as if he's never quite got excited about it all. I've said in an earlier post, the combination between him and Caroline is like father and daughter and father is too stern and daughter is too loud!) In other matters, I can't see why we are to have a fifteen minute Monday Breakfast Club. I love football but this just seems like talking football for the sake of talking football. I do rate George Riley though. He should have a proper role presenting sports programme rather than being Nicky's bag carrier. Five Live seem to be in the business of tidying a few things up. They have got rid of the Non League Football Show (that's a tick from me) and I wonder if they could see fit to incinerate The Science Programme with its own bunsen burner. It would be helpful too if they could unplug Dotun's virtual jukebox! Any thoughts? |

George Riley is underused & agree he's make a great sports presenter (I thought he was good on CH5 Football League).
Sonja I agree she is awful... Ian Robertson is sadly now past his sell by date, rather like Blowers on TMS. Ellie is rather jolly hockey sticks, & Victoria has a future in broadcasting I think. |

Agreed. She's been excellent as the expert commentator in the cycling alongside Russell Fuller, A lot of humour from her too. All her predictions in each race have been pretty well spot on. She was particularly impressive regarding Rebecca James in the keirin who was last in the race with 1 lap to go and well behind the other cyclists . Russell Fuller suggested that she looked well out of it, but Vicky insisted it was a tactic and she would make it to the medals. Within a few seconds Rebecca sprinted past all the other cyclists but one to win silver.
![]() Such a shame that our disgusting media and the Twitterati, including JK Rowling, have been having a go at John Inverdale again, and demanding his sacking. ![]() For what? Pointing out that Murray is the first Singles player to win consecutive Olympic Golds? That's a fact. Murray chose to correct him saying that the Williams sisters have won 4 each, but not more than one in Singles. There was nothing sexist or "gaffe" like but still idiots who don't even listen or watch Sport hurry to demand he be sacked. Unbelievable! Good to see Eleanor Oldroyd defend him. |

Whenever Nolan is doing a breaking news story he's always keen to tell us that the BBC do not report specifics unless there are two corroborated sources. Why then did they put out an interview with a supposed witness to the Dalian Atkinson death in which she said she'd seen the police kicking him several times whilst he was on the floor ?

Radiotuner you're so right, the Monday Breakfast Club is a bad idea.
It totally ruined the flow of Breakfast. 15 minutes is way too long aswell. I feel it's a waste of precious time and as a football fan myself I am totally done with the weekends' matches by then, I don't want to hear about them anymore. |
