I understand why, as the Presidential Debate is obviously a big story, but I was gutted there was no Doctor Karl last night.

They should have got Dr Karl and a pyschologist to do an idiot's guide to sociopathy.

An yet again we have this thick, inarticulate cockney woman doing the newspaper review. 'Wot I fink' ', 'phree' for three. She's just told us she used to be a teacher. She makes Sarah Brett seem quick of thought.

You're rather harsh in equating a London accent with a lack of intelligence. I think she brings a fresh perspective.

What about the Award Winner Nolan who last night called the Legendary BBC broadcaster Cliff Michelmore "Michael-More" and no-one in his dipstick production team corrected him. It was a clip reporting the horror of Aberfan.

Speech Broadcaster of the Year? My arse!

Go to 2 hours 7 mins in

In the first 60 seconds she said 'fink' 4 times and chucked in a 'fing' for good measure

And said nothing of any consequence

She drives me mad so that I can't listen to her. It isn't the accent, it's the inability to pronounce words correctly, particularly for a teacher.

How on earth Nolan won that award I will never know. Where is he tonight anyway? He's been missing a lot over summer (apart from hols) when the Olympics were on and whoever has replaced him has been a bonus.

Heard a bit of Stan Collymore on 606 last night - a huge improvement on Robbie Savage.

Looks like 5 Live are breaking in Stan gently for a more regular return to the station as a pundit. He's certainly made himself one of the best in the business whatever you may think of him & I'm sure his Talksport persona won't be repeated on the BBC, although his opinions shouldn't be any less pertinent.

Nihal needs to calm down laughing at his own jokes, he will do himself a mischief.

Does anybody think he is a good replacement for Dan Walker?

Makes Bacon sound like a broadcasting legend

Given Dan Walker was useless, it's like for like.

Was that Dreda Say Mitchell ? I agree with you, but she's flavour of the month with the Beeb at the moment !

He just read out a news headline about 2 police being hit by a car & got the intonation so wrong , the meaning of the sentence was quite confused.!

Also 2 items about Calais, both negative. They're now interviewing Vanessa Redgrave !

Latest RAJARs - BBC Radio 5 Live saw its reach drop year-on-year from 5.530m to 5.502m, a fall from the last quarter (5.86m).

That is with Euro 2016 and Rio 2016 in the quarter

Remember when Wall and van Klaveren used to bleat on about how great 5 live was doing because it had a reach in excess of 6 million.

I am not at all surprised. I honestly think that there has been a real backlash from listeners against the BBC and 5live/Radio Manchester in the more populated Midlands region because the BBC has totally abandoned this area in favour of and a wrong focus on Manchester. After being a 5live listener for many years, I decided that if they cannot be bothered to support the Midlands region ( in which the BBC gets a quarter of its licence fee funding ) then I will desert them and I feel others have done the same and now listen to LBC and Talkradio and you know what ? I actually enjoy listening to the radio again compared to the mundane dross & presenters on 5live.Julia Hartley Brewer and Iain Dale have superb shows and I understand have increased their audience figures.Well done to them.

LBC gets calls from literally all over the UK. It really should no longer be referred to as "a London radio station", (which the BBC call it when they use a news clip). 5Live is Salford based, yet LBC reflects the views and concerns of people nationwide more than the BBC nowadays, and, in truth, has done for a while.

I think Media City has become a bubble of self-satisfaction and arrogance, that they are "the best" and are reflecting the regions, they aren't. You can read it in the opinions of presenters via their tweets that their programming is superior. It begs the question, have they listened to other stations? They might not be so smug.

I listen far more to LBC and TalkRadio than 5Live these days, but they do stick to certain subjects and if I want a more rounded view of the current news items I go back to 5Live. I think the presenters sound a bit dull incomparison to LBC and TalkRadio because they can't express their own views, whereas the presenters on those stations can be a lot more opinionated and feisty which makes it more interesting. They don't always get their facts right though and I still trust the BBC more.

Some of 5 Live's problems are not new. Afternoons have been poor for years. Mid-mornings have been miserable for years. The late show hasn't been great since Anita presented it.

Breakfast and drive are weaker than ever. I wouldn't be surprised if the station has lost listeners because of the changes that have been made to those shows in recent years. I doubt it is because people disagree with the station broadcasting from Salford instead of Birmingham or because people think the content between breakfast and drive is worse without Victoria Derbyshire or Richard Bacon.

I don't listen regularly because the news coverage isn't as good as it should be and I have little interest in the misery or triviality. Although I am not keen on some presenters, it is the content that primarily influences my listening decision.
