As thrilled as I am about a Grant and Sam return, I do find it strange that the three won't appear together.

From what I'm reading Grant doesn't attend Peggy's funeral (?) and that's when Sam turns up... unless we are all in for some unspoiled surprise, I do wonder what the reasoning behind this is!

It's bizarre if they don't.

I can't see Grant coming back to see Peggy before she dies and then not being at the funeral. Unless Ross has filmed something that will be slotted in separate to Danniella and Steve's scenes like a Simon Wicks type cameo. But I think Grant/Peggy's relationship warrants more than that and they somehow should have made it work with Ross's schedule.

Maybe Grant is arrested for helping Peggy die, misses the funeral and is then released in a month or so for his second stint he was talking about.

Although I expect he will just have a row with Phil and disappear home for a bit then come back in a while to give him a bit of his liver because "it's what Mum would have wanted"

It will be a shame if Grant and Sam don't see each other. Grant hasn't appeared onscreen with Daniella's Sam since 1999. And Sharon hasn't been onscreen with Daniella's Sam since 1993!

So just confirming, is Grant only back for 2 episodes this week? Monday and Tuesday (Peggy's death episode)?

Is Grant returning for the funeral? I thought Ross Kemp was back for several episodes as part of the original deal (before it was announced his contract was extended for three weeks in the summer) so I was expecting to see Grant for a longer stint that this as part of this deal.

So after Tuesday is that the last we see of Grant until late summer/early Autumn?

If this is the case then something must go seriously wrong between Grant and Phil which prevents Grant from returning for Peggy's funeral. Surely there is no way Grant would miss this for anything.

Yes that's right, but Sue Tully never wants to go back to acting hence why she's never returned. But surprised Ross Kemp hasn't fitted in filming for the funeral as part of this new stint, unless Grant makes a brief appearance like Simon Wicks did for his mum's Pat's funeral at the end when everyone had left.

I'm sure all will be explained this week what happens to Grant after Tuesday's episode

The whole thing with Peggy's death and the funeral all seems a mess. Parts of it are rushed, parts of it won't be seen for a while and parts of it all see like a case of poor scheduling.

Yet, it's all been planned since autumn.

Ross said he's back for a month so has that now changed?

He said 3 weeks actually.

The original announcement was for Ross Kemp to return for 'several' episodes. I don't think an actual time frame was ever confirmed (although I read a few people on DS say Ross said he's back for 1 month but not sure if Ross himself said this or was just rumour).

Then last week Ross said he's signed for another 3 weeks which he'll be filming late summer.

My understanding though is with Ross saying he's back for several episodes, means after Tuesday's episode, this won't be the last we see of Ross and he'll be back in a few weeks time but from the spoiler pics I've seen, there is no sign of Grant at the funeral, although I suppose if Ross is filming his scenes out of sync with the rest of the cast due to his commitments with Extreme World, it's possible I guess Ross hasn't filmed his scenes yet.

All very strange. Again I guess all will be explained this week. I find it odd that Grant completely disappears after Tuesday's episode and he's not in Thursday's EP to mourn for his mother with the rest of the Mitchells.

I actually like it that, unlike Corrie, nothing about this storyline is spoiled beforehand. One of the things DTC has got consistently right under his tenure.

While defending herself against the story in The Sun, Daniella tweeted this

"I had two weeks work 2 do @bbceastenders a funeral to shoot. Nothing with Peggy or grant. I was not sacked or axed I just did 4 episodes 😊"

So it would appear that Grant doesn't feature at the funeral, unless there is a Smon Wicks style insert at the end where he doesnt interact with other guests. As discussed in other threads, the timeline of filming around Peggy's death seems a bit all over the place given that she dies this week but her funeral was only filmed last week.

They have had to work around the actors availability etc.. Sam and Grant both attend the funeral, Sam filmed scenes last week and Grant filmed his a few weeks ago, but they will be edited together.

The 2 bands in this music video did not film this video together on the same week. but it appears they did!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jvrjd8DI-c

The camera will show Sam's face saying
"Grant, I'm devastated" then Grant saying "I know, come give your brother a hug" *doorbell rings* Sam: Better get that first.

and a Sam wig will be put on someone's head with their back to the camera at the funeral, and closeups of Sam's face crying etc..

Is it held up due to assisted death? Is Grant not happy with Peggy decision and Phil involvement? Only guessing.

I find it hard to believe grant wouldn't be at the funeral. Him not been there defeats the whole purpose of his return.

I did see a pic of grant attacking Phil so maybe he had something to do with it. Here's what I think happened on the lead up to it. Peggy discussed how she wanted to die with grant but he refused so she goes to Phil which is why she didn't want grant to know because he'd have stopped it. Grant might find out after and probably blames Phil for letting it happen which leads to the attack.

What I'm slightly confused about so far and sorry if this has already been explained, but didn't Peggy tell Phil back in January about her cancer returning in that one-off appearance? Phil looked shocked when he found out last week as though he didn't have a clue. Not sure if this is something which the writers overlooked perhaps or maybe Phil wasn't listening at the time as he was drunk at the time, but Phil did appear concerned, even drunk, back in that episode when she told Phil from her bedroom.

I think the key will be exactly why does Grant punch Phil. Maybe Phil tells Grant he intends to help Peggy die. I also read though that Phil has spent Courtney's inheritance money so this could be a good reason for Grant to give Phil a smack

Why on earth all the hoo-ha about the Mitchells all appearing together on screen one final time then?

Or was that DS propaganda rather than the EE machine? I lose track.
