Because he's played for the manager before, and has obviously done enough to impress him.

Yes, but it is a bit unfair on the other players who have played most of the season and have been impressive

Where does 'fairness' come into it?

You don't pick the players who have played the most games, you pick the players who you think give you the best chance to do well.

If it was down to fairness, Delph playing in most of the qualifiers would mean his place is secure.

And there lies our problem.
I suspect Drinkwater will be left out when he has been probably the best English player in his position.
We just never help ourselves

For one season. In a set-up that clearly suits him, with a manager who clearly knows how to get the best out of him.

Absolutely no guarantee that he'd be able to perform at that level for England.

It is man management from Roy, just letting a player who has been a regular fixture for the last two years know that he is not forgotten.

It's a gesture, there is no chance that he will go IMO.

Indeed. Lee Chapman, Rod Wallace, Chris Whyte, Chris Fairclough, Mel Sterland and Tony Dorigo were all permanent fixtures in a title winning side and terrific all season.

None of them were anywhere near international standard.

That said, Drinkwater should squeeze into the squad.

I'd take Rooney, but i don't think he should start. Defoe or Carroll would be ahead of Rashford and Delph, Wilshere and Milner shouldn't make the final 23 man squad.

Unless he plays how will we know either way if he is good enough for England or not?

He could be a revelation, and do very well, or the opposite might be the case.

Give him games and let's find out, he certainly deserves the chance and opportunity, as he has done very well for a team that has just won the league title!

Rashford in, Drinkwater out.

5 strikers? Overkill.

Townsend on the way home too.

Keeping faith with Henderson and Wiltshire, two proven failures. We'll be lucky to get out of the group stages.

When did Wilshere fail?

The batch of forwards doesn't worry me too much as Rooney and Sturridge are closer to midfielders by the looks of this selection, the centre back choices are a bit of a gamble though. Having Dier as the just in case is ok but he's played the season in midfield.

What's he achieved at Arsenal? Not to mention his behaviour off the pitch. He's a liability that can't be trusted.

It's BS. I reckon he left out the ones who would make the least fuss.
What was the point of naming Townsend in the 26?

...and as for Henderson, Liverpool can't wait to get rid.

I doubt Rooney will play as a striker, especially not ahead of Kane or Vardy. Rooney's actually useful now, because he's shown how good he is in midfield, yet could still lead the line in an emergency, and is about the only goal scoring midfielder in the squad.

I would have kept Townsend in the squad, and sent Sturridge home.

Typical Roy. Media hype up Rashford v Sturridge so instead of making the decision Roy chooses both. Drinkwater deserved his place.

Danny Drinkwater out? Wilshire in? Why?
