Cadburys Turkish delight bar
Polly_Perkins

What has happened to the large bars of Cadburys Turkish delight bars?

I have been to all the main stores and nobody seems to stock it

In its place are these new bars with bits in them.

It was also my fav one in milk tray which has been replaced with a nasty Apple thing

What's going on?

I've never known anybody who liked turkish delight. IMHO it is utterly repulsive and always gets left in the chocolate box along with the strawberry creams.

You, OP, are a very unusual person.

Yes, me too. When I was young no one else at home liked Strawberry Creams from the Quality Street tin so I deliberately left them and then I got extra treats when everything else had gone.

I also like Cadbury's Turkish Delight. I don't remember seeing the large bars but I had one of the smaller ones recently, and like many other things, it has shrunk in size in recent years.

I really like it. But I gather it's the minority who enjoy it as it appears to be gone

Maybe in 10 years they will bring it back for a nostalgia special.

Cadbury's still have their plain and fruit and nut bars but seem to have gone crazy for these new ones where it pops in your mouth etc. Not great for my gran, she would think she was having a stroke if she ate that. She loved Turkish delight, so annoying I can't get it for her now.

You cant eat turkish delight in company. Someone will always point out how revolting they think it is.
I love it, but oddly i dont like the 'proper' stuff without chocolate

Well considering they have been selling it for over 100 years someone must like it.

Just had a bar of Fry's Turkish Delight.........it was lovely

Don't remember a Cadbury's Turkish Delight although Cadbury do now own Fry's

But for 50-odd years it's always been Fry's Turkish Delight.........the TV ads with the sexy belly dancers........here's one from the 1960s !

This is the 80's one I fondly remember. Always used to freak me out as a kid when he brought that whacking great sword down. My young mind used to imagine he was going to cut the woman's head off but changed his mind at the last minute !

Probably why I can't stand Turkish Delight, just as no sane person should.

I love proper Turkish delight, the Cadburys one doesn't taste anything like it though, it's just a gloopy mush in comparison.

Cadbury have owned Fry's since 1919.

The Turkish Delight in Cadbury bars isn't the same recipe as they use for their Fry's branded bars, though.

'Turkish' delight is so much nicer without the chocolate from the middle east. The texture is totally different and the variety comes in more flavours not just rose.
