Peggy's death has been overhyped
So far anyway. I know we have tommorow's actual death bur it seems like there's still so much to fit in, but we only have 35 minutes remaining with Peggy. Surprised it wasn't an hour long. I'm intrigued to see how she'll actually die..
DTC promised emotion, lots of surprises and so much more from Peggy's return. First of all, her return is literally 5 days long. Tommorow's her last episode and nothing's happened tbh - grant only returned today for duff duff and we haven't seen this Claudette and Peggy feud yet (not that I want to - leave that rubbish in the past). I sincerely hope that tommorow will deliver, and Sarah Phelps does it justice. |

It could have been better. It's all too rushed, tomorrow should have been an hour long episode none of this 35 minute crap (what is the point?) They better pull out all the stops tomorrow!

I agree, longer episodes would have been better.

All DTC has done since 2013 is completely over hype things. Peggy deserves a huge send off, she's one of not very many characters left from the shows classic years and hopefully tomorrow will be great. Very surprised it's not an hour long episode though.

Babs has been amazing but it has been overhyped
Grant is only back for 2 episodes this week and Sam isn't even appearing in any episodes with Peggy or her Brothers. |

The timing/scheduling and cramming everything in is pretty poor, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't enjoyed every moment of it all.
I'm also looking forward to Stacey's wedding and the Beale drama, so there's plenty more coming up, along with Grant's return later in the year (And then Lauren, Steve and Max's HUGE returns). |

Tonight's episode felt like a waste of half an hour.

She's been upstaged by the annual 'market fights for survival' storyline and a bunch of stolen bogs! Its all a bit strange.

I don't know if overhyped is the right word, because I've loved it so far and think they have done some genuinely brilliant, emotional scenes.
In many ways they've gone back to soap basics with it all - despite the Thames boat trip, it does feel like it's being under played because it's very, very under stated: there is no big drama. No real fuss. No long, drawn out goodbyes. It's all very matter of fact and it's worked because we, the audience, know the end is near and most of characters on screen do not. We probably just feel a little short changed because its been shorter than expected. Grant's return has been potentially overhyped, but Ross Kemp returning was never not going to be an event. Even so, I think it's wonderful having Phil, Peggy and Grant back together for one last hurrah, because this genuinely is the end of an era for the show. It's not the return I expected though. I know we knew she had terminal cancer, but I never expected a little old woman to return. That shocked me, as I was looking forward to to scenes featuring the Peggy Mitchell we all knew and loved (and hated, if you believe what you read here). But isn't it nice to be given something you don't expect? It makes for better drama. I've enjoyed the little hints at what's to come too - particulary for Ben and Louise. Both will severely regret not attending Peggy's dinner (and hopefully this is what splits Ben and Paul up), and it gives the two young actors something to really get their teeth into. |

As most on here know I am not a Peggy fan, however, I do like Babs. This stint has even prevented me from calling her the screeching banshee as it has been wonderfully understated. I actually think DTC has done Babs proud. Her acting in the quiet mode has been much more powerful than the screeching ever was. Steve's capable performance as Philth and his scenes tonight with Adam Woodyatt were brilliant. June Brown never disappoints. I think it has been poignant, well-performed and emotional.
I really do think on this occasion less is definitely more.

It could have been written way better. The Stacey scene in particular wasn't needed and could have been used for a few minutes of scenes with Peggy and Claudette.
I hope tomorrow's ep is ALOT better. |

Why on earth would a scene with Claudette who Peggy has never been on screen with be more important than Stacey?
Whiney Stacey going on about killing Archie for which she should still be languishing in prison for was BORING. |

You'd be moaning if they hadn't hyped it.
WHERE'S THE TRAILER!? WHERE'S THE PRESS INTERVIEWS!? |

You mean the months of feverish speculation and huge expectations from this forum has led to overall disappointment in the way the storyline has played out?! Major plot twist!

I remember when my Auntie Siobhan found out she was on her way out. She was hyping it up for months like it was going to be the best thing since sliced bread. When she finally shuffled off her mortal coil while watching an old episode of Columbo on the sofa one night we were all stood around asking ourselves "Is that it? Months of hype for THAT! What a flop death!". I'll never forget it.

What do you expect? This is DTC you're talking about. So far he's managed to ruin storylines that had potential to be great. Bobby being Lucy's killer springs to mind! Kathys return has been a disappointment too.

Considering Peggy actually left a few years ago now and has only done guest appearances since it is overhyped..... But we don't mind too much because it is Barbara Windsor
