greatest pop records
Probably been done a thousand times, but I haven't seen your choices.
So what are the top 5 greatest records of all time? In no particular order, here are mine: McArthur Park, (Richard Harris) Hotel California With A Little Help From My Friends American Pie Sympathy For the Devil |

Absolutely dead on about Waterloo Sunset. Should have been in my list.
My number 6 was It's all Over Now Baby Blue, so Dylan was sort of in it. |

I've said before that Waterloo Sunset is my favourite song of all time, so simple and beautiful.
To add to that, two Buddy Holly songs stand out for me That'll be the day, one of the first uses of overdub in pop True Love Ways, genius song writing. She loves You by The Beatles is my final one, I remember it coming out. the impact it had across the world is unlike anything I've ever seen since. |

Very very difficult.
One is pure pop Gold. Downtown by Petula Clark written by Tony Hatch. In my opinion the perfect pop record. Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty is near perfect for a pop record. Lost in Music by Sister Sledge Money's too tight to mention by Simply Red Heartbreaker by Dionne Warwick 5 I think worthy of inclusion. ( just outside the top 5... Eleanor by the Turtles) |

Incidentally if we were doing favourites, my definite all time favourite record is Midnight Special by Lonnie Donegan.

Many great choices, and even a very few I don't know.
But as yet no Fats Domino, or House Of The Rising Sun, both close to the best for me. |

If we're talking about actual pop songs rather than our favourite songs ever, then
The Shirelles - 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?' The Isley Brothers - 'This Old Heart Of Mine' R Dean Taylor - 'Ghost In My House' Sugarbabes - 'TooLost In You' Gap Band - 'Outstanding' |
