I came across something on YouTube earlier which made me question wether or not Kate Oates would revert back to the old, more classic Corrie theme tune, rather than keep the tacky one introduced in 2010.

https://youtu.be/goZFFTwyqwI This clip from a more recent episode features the OLD Corrie theme tune playing in the background, over the video. It is common knowledge Kate Oates is now at Corrie, so could this be foreshadowing the fact she will give Cortie its previous theme tune back?

Obviously it's just speculation, but what does everyone make of this? I think it is possible Kate Oates is going to change to the old one and if this is true, I don't blame her, it sounds much better than the one of today. Oates has also stated before she wants to take the show back to its roots.

I hope so! I loved the old theme tune , although she didn't change Emmerdale back to it's original so I'm not sure that she will, time will tell though. If she does I hope she reverts back to the old titles as well, not a fan of the current titles.

100% would love the old music reinstated. The current titles are fine though although a recreation of 2002 would be cool with the new set.

I think restoring the original theme tune that had depth, warmth and power would be a big step towards bringing me back to Corrie as a viewer.

I don't care about the theme tune but I would love a new intro. The current one is just awful. I still haven't got used to it. It's just so soulless and pretentious.

As well as the theme tune, the end of part 1 and 8pm 'cliffhangers' tune needs putting back as well, the one they currently use just doesn't have the same impact.

It's a shame, because Corrie have had some excellent moments since 2010 (Most between 2010-2014), and the new theme tune has kind of too the impact off of them moments a little. It sounds picky, but after the excellence of Hayley's death episode, it just cut off and went into the tacky theme tune and it spoiled it a little, in my opinion. Now, if that would have been the old theme tune, it would have really done it justice.

Can't say I even notice the theme tune tbh, though I do still miss the five note 'half time' theme & like to hear it on the old YouTube episodes!!

Kate Oates has been watching old archival episodes just as she started, wanting to get the programme back to it's roots. Perhaps she preferred the old classic theme when hearing it again and decided to bring it back? It was too iconic to mess with and hope this is the case. Miss hearing that theme, such warmth!

Interesting find! I really hope this is the case - the entire feel of the programme hasn't been right since they abandoned the classic theme.

Perhaps if this change does go ahead, it'll be when BGT week starts.

If Kate Oates decides to change it, then it won't appear on screen until the autumn, as that's her first on screen credit.

She could in theory action an opening credits music change before that time, though. BGT week would be a good one to do it in!

That's a pretty good mock up! Only I would get rid of the cat noise myself. I'd also bring back the camera shot pointing down the terraced rooftops for the credits, though the cobbles work nicely.

Ah nostalgia, I was particularly a fan of the closing music.

The current theme/titles are crap especially the 'end of part' bits.

I liked it when the scene used to continue a little bit over the music/'end of part one', and it was the same when it came back on. You'd get a little bit of scene with the music and 'Part Two' over it.

The current theme/titles are a mess. Also, why do all ITV programmes have generic end credits?
