SOC - Cullings
Now that Peggy and with her DTC have reached / are reaching the end of their time, surely it's time for SOC to announce the great cull that comes with every new producer?
Predictions: I hope the current focus on the Mitchells will not lead SOC to take a misty-eyed sentimental view of Roxy. She's reached the end of her storyline IMO and makes Ronnie a weaker character. Equally I hope that SOC, out of great respect for DTC, does not leave the Carters untouched. Babe, for me, is a terrific villain so would have to get rid of Tina, Lee and Whitney. Without any family left it also becomes difficult to justify Masood staying. Wouldn't want him to just become a younger Patrick. Once his storyline with Ronnie finishes it'll be heard to imagine Andy staying on. Finally I've not missed Jay in the slightest since his temporary vanishing act. At the moment he's just a bit of dead weight. Would love to hear what everyone else thinks and also their predictions about who'll be in SOC's hitlist. |

For me producers generally don't do mass cullings anymore- certainly not any that I recall recently. It has been widely stated he doesn't take over until June so I doubt we will hear anything until then. However I think of the characters you mentioned Andy Jay and Lee would be a waste. The others I agree with.

Sean will likely higher some new Production people.
I hope Alex Lamb leaves too. In terms of a cull I dont think there will be one but some characters are vulnerable and I think that The Cokers, Donna, Tina and Buster could be axed. I think is certain that Jane will leave later in the year but I do not see any other departures. |

He might not axe that many people? Most of the cast is fine, just underused

I think that the cast is very strong right now. I would reintroduce the Slaters, given his history with them. Belle, Stacey and Little Mo would be perfect for now. Once Redwater has aired I would bring back Kat and Alfie, with Alfie's brain tumour playing out as a sad exit story (Alfie is very popular outside of this forum, so would likely be a ratings winner too). Then Kat can remain as the matriarch of the family. Stacey would then become a Fowler rather than a Slater, so each would serve in separate families and still have a close bond.
I would look at an exit for Whitney and for Tina. Sonia returning only worked when Carol and B where in the show, so she can go too. I would however, keep Bex on in the Fowler clan. The Mitchells are a big unit, headed by Phil. I would look at an exit for Ben, he is really not interesting anymore. I hate his pairing with Paul. I would keep Les and Pam on as I like 'supporting' characters especially older ones to prop up the storylines in the Vic. I would look at an exit for Paul. Vincent seems redundant now that his story with Claudette and Ronnie has ended. I would perhaps have him leave in a blaze of fire or some spectualtur scene. Equally, Donna can be sent off somewhere. Rebuild the Brannings as one family, with Dot and Jack/Ronnie. I don't want Carol, April, Bob nobody else. They became unbearable last time. Beatles are fine. Although Bobby needs to get sent to a YOU to serve out a five year sentence. He can then come back as a troubled 18 year old in the future. |

Tina, Sonia, Lee and Donna could certainly go, but I agree that a mass culling is not needed.

Axings for me:
Mick: Just awful. Give him an exit where he is killed off as to not have him cheat on Linda. Elaine: Just kill her off. I know she is recurring but I will count those. Tina: Useless now IMO unless they bring Zsa Zsa back. Roxy: She needs to be away from Ronnie Jane: Jail for her part in Lucy's death |

Whitney and Lee have potential as a couple. I'd not axe them.

I can actually see Andy sticking around? I mean they do seem to be getting on well which admittedly could be an act on his part, but depending on why he's after her he could find himself unable to go through with it and actually liking her as a friend?

If Kelly Bright is pregnant the only thing they can do is ship her off to her Mum for a while. Linda breaking down after rape ordeal / Ollie brain injury would seem realistic and family could troop off to see her on regular basis. I mention this as Mick is going to need folks in Vic like Witney/Shirley even Tina to carry them through this period. The only character that has to go for me is Jane. Until she does Beale family just can't progress. The family I'm not bothered about is Claudette/Vincent/Kim. |

Why does a character like Masood needs to be axed as he doesn't have family around him? They could do more with him. Shirley was a bit of a lone character until she got her family so they could give Masood a partner with children and create a new family unit. Possibly a pairing with Carmel?

I don't really care, as long as they keep Buster & Jay.

Ian, Kathy, Sharon, Dot and Phil will all more than likely be safe and righty so.
Johnny, Lee, Donna, Tina, Babe, Les, Pam and Buster bring absolutely nothing to the show in my opinion and scenes involving them could be spent on more interesting characters. Everyone else I'm ok with. The Kazemi's are a bit meh, but at least they actually serve some sort of purpose. I'm not the Carter's biggest fan, but axing all of them would be a mistake. Mick, Linda and Shirley bring a lot to the show and are relevant. |
