Whilst I love Peggys send off. It fell just short of being perfect.

I think either one of these would have worked so much better

'Peggy dresses up in her finest again. She takes the pills. Cut to another scene.

When we come back. Peggy is lying on her bed, we hear pats voice. Then see her sat next to the bed. They have a conversation, Peggys reaches out and holds pats hand, 'you won't ever leave me will you' ' no sweetheart, not for one single second' 'thank you'

Peggys passes away and the camera goes out across the square'

Or

'Peggy is lying on the bed having overdosed. She hears the chime of the Vic bell. Last orders. We see Peggy back behind the bar. Everyone leaves. But we hear Pats voice. Pat sits at the bar. Peggy joins her for that last drink they never had. They reminisce. Pat tells Peggy it's time to go. Franks waiting for them. Peggy and pat put on their coats, and Peggys turns the Vic lights off. As the door closes we hear them
Both laughing as they disappear off into the distance. Back in the bedroom Peggys breaths her last. The camera goes out across the square'

Yes, I like option 2.

So much better than what we actually got.

They should have had her die sat on one of the stolen toilets in the centre of the square.

Option 2 would've been brilliant! Peggy's last scene should've been in the Vic.

Option 2 would have been lovely. Seeing Pat and Peggy in the pub one last time would have been just perfect!
I did like the fact in the episode they included one last "you bitch", "you cow", which could easily have fitted in your idea.

Peggy was best known for being the Vic landlady, so it should have only been fair we had a proper scene with her in the pub, even if it was a dream sequence, that would be fine.

I would maybe have done it a little different. I would have had Peggy having a drink in the pub with Grant, Phil, Sam (yes she would have been there) and other family members, then Peggy gets up to go to the bar and as she orders, she hears Pat's voice. As she looks up across the bar, suddenly its only Pat and Peggy in the pub. They start talking and reminiscing (including of course the bitch, cow lines), then Pat rings the last orders bell, and Peggy is alone in her room lying on her bed, and we then hear Pat again saying "Good night, see you soon" and then we get the camera pan across the square.

I still think my idea would have been good one even better if it had happened in the Vic now that I have given it more thought.

Were Pat and Peggy that close though? There were obviously a few iconic scenes from the reveal of the affair and after Frank's death. Obviously a grudging respect grew between them in later years. But,would Pat have been uppermost in Peggy's mind at such a pivotal moment? It strikes me more of a sentimental thing for the fans to get two legendary characters together one last time.

Yes.

No, they became very good friends, and grew really close.

They continued to have some classic rows over the years, which only made their friendship all the more interesting and enjoyable.

But it was certainly much, much more than a "grudging respect". Not sure which show you watched
