It's that time again. As the eye has been revealed, it's time for this classic thread.

After a poor civilian series rater last summer, should we expect another low? However, CBB16 enjoyed moderate success, and CBB17 enjoyed great success, so with CBB17, will people go into BB17 with a better or worse feeling?

Yep, we'll see.

Have no idea what day it will launch, no idea what's best. Wednesday or Thursday?

They should be alright for a reasonable figure if they launch AND have an eviction in the first week of June, as the Euros don't start until the week after

Hmm, I don't know. I think it's looking more like a launch 2 days or theday before Euros so either Weds 8th or Thurs 9th.

Not any earlier. They could launch 16th or 17th though.

Being France, there will be a lot of clashes

Not sure until date is revealed. If promo is good, I reckon 1.8/1.9 as there has been alot of talk of it being a relaunch but still public perception of normal BB has been declining recently still

If it starts mid-June, by Day 50, BB17 will be clashing with the Olympics in the ratings which could also be disastrous.

If I were Channel 5, I would have shaken things up a bit this year because of the schedules. I would have had a July CBB series and then postponed the Regular BB series until September, where there is usually not that much to watch on TV.

I wouldn't worry about the Olympics. The only reason BB13 was affected is because it was in London. I recall the Beijing Olympics in 2008 not doing very well. Plus being in Rio, I doubt BB would clash much. It would be 5pm Rio time when it's 9pm here.

Just read the description of BB17 and it sounds horrendous.

WOW! Yes it was me! Surprised anyone remembered! I did them from I think BB4 every year up until about BB10 I think. Then I eventually gave up as the show went downhill and the ratings weren't as interesting. It's funny actually as not long ago I found on my laptop a Word document with every single rating (overnight and official) for every episode of BB from day 1 of BB1 all the way up until the end of BB10. CBB too!!

Now we have the date....

Predictions?

Tuesday is the best they could do so good on them. Friday the Euros start and Saturday is the death knell. Had it launched on a Friday it would have been a catastrophic disaster.

I think maybe a tiny bit low, but wouldn't really surprise me.

Last year IMO was harmed by the earliest C5 start... actually, looking at Wikipedia, never in the history of BBUK, had it started that early. The previous earliest was the 18th May 2006 when BB7 launched. This time last year it had already been on for 13 days as it started on the 12th May. The Monday coming up will mark a year since 4in4out happened.

But i think that, plus the fact that I am sure it had quite a bit of competition (more than most years) and it ended up getting 1.8m. So, i think around the same, but like I said, it wouldn't shock me if it was between 1.5-1.6m.

It faces the EU debate on Tuesday for launch, but not sure if BB demo would want to watch two idiots have a debate. So, it may not be harmed.

The biggest competition comes from the Euros. By far.

The Olympics won't be that much of a problem I don't think. The only reason it hit BB13 was because it was in London, but I recall that even then, the not so big events were barely getting 4m.

Also depends with that though because being in Brazil, if they do the bigger events in primetime in Rio (not sure about whether 7-9 time is the biggest in Rio), then those primetime events won't be shown until like 11pm-1am here.

BB would clash with events that are aired at 5pm in Rio. And lets just hope that they are not huge events.

Lastly, pretty sure Bejiing 2008 was a flop most nights here.

Beijing 2008 was a flop but I think there is renewed public interest in the Olympics after London 2012. The public are far more aware of British athletes now I think and will want to follow and support those who did well in the London 2012 games. I can see the Olympic clashes seriously hurting this year's BB.

Euros will also be a major issue. Like I say, they would have been better to schedule the regular series from September-November to avoid all these sporting clashes.

My prediction for the launch is 1.4m.

What do you think the viewing figures will be for this series? And what will channel 5 class as a success?

I think that anywhere near 2 million for the launch and around 1.2 million for the nightly shows rising to 1.5 million for evictions and channel 5 will be happy.

I'd say that the launch show will get 2.3 million -2.5 million and the nightly shows will get 1.1 million with the eviction shows averaging around 1.5 million.

I'd be massively surprised if the show was to get any higher viewing figures.
