Too early yet though an act of terrorism is being reported as 'highly likely' based on the planes rapid descent and inexplicable manoeuvre. It veered suddenly to the left and then made a sharp 360 turn before dropping off the radar.

I still can't believe there has been barely a comment on why there were three security personnel on board - even if it is just to state that this is perfectly normal, and all planes travel with them on.

It does seem a strange thing to say they are leaning more towards terrorism than mechanical failure. Surely you would just explain to media that we are looking at all possibilities and investigation underway?

AP reporting that parts found are not from the plane. I'd have thought a plane exploding or hitting the sea would create lots of mess and debris which in a relatively small area (compared to Pacific Ocean for example) you'd have found something by now.

They are even saying it doesn't come from a plane at all!

The head of the Greek air safety authority on Thursday told AFP that wreckage found in the Mediterranean close to where an EgyptAir passenger jet is thought to have crashed "does not come from a plane".

"Up to now the analysis of the debris indicates that it does not come from a plane, my Egyptian counterpart also confirmed to me that it was not yet proven that the debris came from the EgyptAir flight when we were last in contact around 1745 GMT," Athanasios Binis told AFP, after the airline said Egyptian officials had confirmed the wreckage found near a Greek island was from the ill-fated flight.

I know Putin is furious about the Eurovision Song Contest result but that does seem a grotesque over-reaction, surely?

In all seriousness, I would advise against jumping to conclusions or the mass jerking of knees in this sort of tragedy until all the facts are known.

Certainly not all flights, more sensitive routes/airlines perhaps (I think El Al always have air marshalls on board) - would seem odd to have three looking after 56 passengers but maybe they were just going home rather than on duty.

Sorry, I know I shouldn't, but the BIB did make me laugh.

On a serious note, I read just now that the British man on board became a father for the second time just a couple of weeks or so ago.

, French officials say that having three security personnel on a plane that size is not necessarily anything out of the ordinary.

Alain Vidalies, France's transport minister, said that having three air marshals on the plane was the "usual practice

If the ant had a black box then I would have hoped so?

This is what im astounded by in modern times. In modern technological times of where everyone with a mobile phone switched on can be located how is it we can't locate airplanes? The Malaysian Airlines MH370 disappearing in southern oceans had mitigating circumstances, but a plane in the Med! Time to upgrade black box signal output or add other tracking devices to every plane surely

I guess it must be because the DS Search Team with their 'one hour or your money back guarantee' haven't reached the area yet.

Or they were on the flight out of Cairo which was busier.

US flights generally have 3 on board though that seems to be backup in case they "become tired and emotional"

Why hasn't anyone claimed responsibility for the "bombing"?

Its still very odd they have no idea where it is. Shouldn't the black boxes be sending out Pings?

The area isn't really too big so I think its strange they can't locate it.

Anyone know why the BBC have blanked some of the front pages of the newspapers today? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-36338814 I initially thought it was so they didn't show the British victim but he has been left in one of them. His partner maybe? Seems a bit odd.

Apparently the tourism industry in Egypt is about to die after this and the other attacks

More like finding an open matchbox chucked into an olympic swimming pool. When you have a pretty good idea where it was chucked from, and the direction it was chucked in.
