No mobile phone masts in the middle of the mediterranean.

I wonder why the perps haven't claimed responsibility, if it was a terrorist act.

Lone wolf, self radicalised, suicide bomber?

That would be really scary.

That's why it's best to keep an open mind.

It's kinda depressing the amount of junk we leave in the sea, even aside from it making it more difficult to find a downed plane.

To be fair this is partly the airlines fault for poor security. The airline is small but no excuse for allowing this to get through. If EasyJet, Ryanair have never had this kind of thing happen then EgyptAir shouldn't either.

Hopefully those onboard quickly passed out, Naturally finding the recorders will answer a lot of questions.

Flying is perilous enough without added risks.

Security is mainly the responsibility of the airport.

It is looking to me like the pilot or whoever was flying the plane flew it into the sea. Whatever caused this to happen is speculation.

You should get in touch with the Egyptian authorities at once to inform them of your conclusions. They can then call off the costly search for the black box and debris, and not bother paying investigators.

Airlines can also set their own security procedures too. The 3 security agents onboard the flight were nothing to do with the Airport, but would have been airline employees. Airlines also set their own cleaning and onboard search procedures too. There are obviously industry standard levels which are met across the board, but airlines can dictate to suppliers that they want certain extra checks done if they feel it's necessary.

T.V. news saying that the plane had already flown from Eritrea and North Africa before flying to Paris and back, so a bomb, if that's what it was , could have been planted anywhere.

It depends on how it happened, you can have all the security in the world if a terrorist is determined one will manage it eventually. Short of stripping everyone before embarking and banning luggage and even then an airport worker could plant something onboard then you will never entirely remove risk.

I totally agree. The thing is surely if it blew up in the sky it was dark and there were lots of other air planes around so wouldnt someone see it blow up, and also the satelliete in america they said there was no explosion visible.

I said to my husband the trouble is now when an aircraft goes down its now assumed its a terroist act, but what about all those planes that crashed for technical reasons or suicide and murder.... I am waiting to see what comes up.

The puzzling thing for me is the swerve and change in the air, why? If it blew up it would just drop into the sea...

Just out of interest, even fairly early yesterday, officials were saying that the plane had crashed and everyone was dead. Now, I can see how they could make a stab that it had probably crashed, but before you have even seen a crash site, or even any piece of debris, how can they declare there to be no survivors.

Is there really no hope of anyone getting out or into a life jacket or clinging to a wing ?

Presumably someone attacking the pilot, or someone attacking the person that had taken the controls from the pilot.
