The Mirror's new gossip column, Square Eyes, reports that Stuart's other talents will be put to use by ITV now that his reigns as Series Producer of both soaps has come to an end.

Stuart will be working as a script writer for Emmerdale under new producer, Iain Mc Leod, whose first credited episode aired this week. Stuart has previously worked as a story editor for Emmerdale before becoming Series Producer in 2011.

Stuart has previously written for Doctors, The Bill and Ballykissangel.

There's no shaking him off, it seems. One door closes and he walks straight into another at breakneck speed.

So will he work his way up the ranks through Emmerdale to take over once again when Ian finishes?

He was story editor at Corrie in the late 00s as well

Best of luck to him!!
Ok he didn't work as a producer but no one can deny the guy's enthusiasm for soaps & many of his ideas over the last 3 years have sounded good on paper!!

Well I suppose we have to be grateful for small mercies (him being a writer and not a storyliner), hopefully he's a decent writer.

Thank god I don't watch emmerdale.
He has done a good job on Coronation St, turning it into ITV's worst sitcom (!).

The US soaps could use him in all seriousness, he's way better than than some off the US soap destroyers like Jill Farren Phelps and Chuck Pratt.

With a guy from Hollyoaks producing the show, and a guy who shat all over Emmerdale and Corrie, ED is in the shit.

what from him writing one or two episodes?

Iain's work has been on screen all this week and ED is in top form as usual

Exactly, for all the people panicking and going OTT , if he is a writer, that means that he just writes the dialogue, we haven't been told that he's going to be a storyliner so it's all good

exactly

but to be honest, he was storyline editor or a storylinerwhen Gavin Blythe was in charge and worked closely with him and that was a good period for Emmerdale.

I don't have any issues with Stuart Blackburn as series producer anyway, but people seem to think that series producers make up all the storylines, write the scripts, do the acting for the cast, film, direct and edit the whole thing when actually they delegate most of it to teams of people and its a collective thing. at Corrie the issue was with the writing team and storyliners which have been getting better for quite some time now

I don't understand how this mans keeps getting jobs involving TV. He's practically the Terminator of soaps; he ruined Emmerdale and has done an equally impressive job of bringing down Corrie. Surely SOMEONE in the executive office must realise that he's actually crap?

That probably why his been reduced to a story editor after being producer of both soaps, downgrade.
