Izzys arrest and police treatment.
Well, weatherfields finest certainly showed us modern policing and how to treat disabled suspects tonight !!!!!! Where do I start !!!!!
I thought her treatment by the officer in her flat was disgusting, he was rude, obstructive and uncaring. It was humiliating and thoughtless how they talked to her about her transport to the police station. At the station, the search was carried out in a thoughtless and uncaring way for a disabled wheelchair bound girl who was obviously embarrassed and upset. Same for the interview, where they mocked and laughed at her answers when she was clearly upset and distressed. I laughed in disbelief when they charged her for ABH for accidentally running over that horrible PC's foot (with his attitude and behaviour I'd been tempted to do the same!!!!) I'm no fan of Izzy but I felt really sorry for her last night. And, FFS, it was a bit of weed, not an armed bank robbery or murder !!!!! |

I always wonder with certain sectors of society do they want treating equally or do they expect to be treated better or in a preferential way?

Not a case of being treated better or in a preferential way, it's being treated with dignity and respect according to your circumstances and disability, of which Izzys character was neither.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Izzy and the policeman ended up as a couple. We'll have a touching scene where he apologises, says he'll drop the charges, and then asks her out. To the bistro, obviously.
Mind, I'm not good at predictions. I fully expected the police to say they'd give her a caution. Rather than asking her if she'd accept one. |

I've not watched it yet so I will reserve judgement (and I hate Izzy), however I work with people with disabilities who are involved in the criminal justice system and a lot of the police in real life don't know what to do when they question a person with disabilities. It's even worse if it's a learning disability.

It's a ridiculous sl of course, but not sure her disability had anything to do with anything. She was a right rude cow to the police officer who came to her house inconveniencing her drug buying deal - aggressive, shouty and gobbing off, not to mention running him over with her wheelchair. Just stupid yelling at the Police that the law is stupid etc - they don't make the law, they just follow it. People tend not to respond well to that sort of behaviour.

I thought the whole idea of this story was that it was hilariously acted and totally ridiculous from start to finish, I assumed she would fly to the police station while off her head and they would never explain how she got there
We weren't meant to take it serious were we? |

![]() The whole storyline is preposterous, and absolutely not to be taken seriously. |

Stupidest storyline in years. The only thing it's 'raising' is laughs.........doesn't really inform me of the benefits of legalising cannabis.
Izzy has been 'fine' for several years, then she suddenly falls over and has agonising pain which will only go away if she takes a bit of weed. Sorry, not buying it. Why would the police waste their time and effort arresting and detaining her? Whoever comes up with this crap should be ashamed of themselves. |

Making the police behave so unsympathetically is obviously to make the viewer unconditionally take Izzy's side. Unfortunately Cherrylee Houston's acting may be having the opposite effect!

I have to admit when she was pulling all them faces i was falling off my chair with laughter, she is such a terrible actress, i would argue worse than Cotton, who at least is used as a comedy character, no matter how terrible, so you actually meant to laugh at him. But Izzy has a hard hitting storyline but i can't help but laugh.

The story would have been more believable if she had been shown on screen seeking advice from her GP and the GP saying there was nothing else they could do for her, as it is it just looks like she has decided to take cannabis without having looked at other options first, they have messed the story up and should just drop it rather than continue muddling it up even more.
