"CORONATION Street actor Jack P. Shepherd has revealed that he bluntly refused to have a meeting with incoming producer Kate Oates.

She offered him the chance to chat about his character's future but he refused, claiming it's her job to come up with the storylines.

However, he's admitted he wouldn't have trouble speaking up if he didn't agree with her decisions."

I'd slap him with a written warning if he did that and I was in charge!

I wonder if he may have heard rumours that he may be getting written out, and was afraid he might get told the he was, so thought it better to bury his head in the sand.

Arrogance personified. Thinks he is bigger than the show.

I didnt know about the rumours. They would be very stupid to let him go.
I get the impression that some of these meetings are for the actors to beg for their jobs, and he certainly doesnt need to do that, so good for him!

I refuse to believe this due to it's source. Why do people on DS lately use The Sun as some sort of holy grail of all things knowledgeable

Ridiculous attitude if true, (and where a paper uses direct quotes rather than 'an inside source' they usually are).

What's he talking about,
"When she came in, she said, ‘Let’s go have a chat and talk about storylines’ and I went, ‘No!’"

Explaining his sharp response to her offer, he said: "I feel as though it’s their job to give me [storylines]."
There's no suggestion (and highly unlikely) she would've been begging him to think of storylines.......as if! She may have wanted to give him her vision for what might be coming up for him in the future. He'll never know now, the knobhead.

Hmmm - I forsee a storyline looming where David suddenly becomes bi-sexual, hss a torrid affair with Todd and then blows up half the street in a bid to cover it up

Agreed. The fact they have used direct quotes means nothing, they can easily take them out of context.

I cannot stand this smarmy little get. Kate could march down to the set and have a word with him right then and there if she wanted. There's nothing he can do about it. Talk about arrogant.

And I bet it was him who leaked it to the press, maybe nothing of the sort happened apart from in his imagination of how important he thinks he is.

A lot of the younger cast need to move on - they have been there too long.

They won't because most of them can't act and they know they will either never end up working or do the predictable panto and reality work

The only way we'll get rid is if the producer axes them but I can't see it happening. We'll probably be stuck with them for the next 20-30 years.

He is known for having a bit of an attitude.

If it turns out to be true, it would be funny if Oates axed him from the show, for his rudeness and arrogance.

I actually like his charachter when he's written properly. As an actor he's alright, a lot better than some of the other shite that passes for Corrie legend status. As a person he seems a bit of a knob.

Can't see what he had to gain from refusing to go to the meeting. A producer is going to want to speak to the cast about storylines, it only really works if the cast understand the long-term view and are engaged in it. Any actor worth there salt would be pushing for a storyline they can get their teeth into in these meetings to avoid having one of those wallflower cameo roles that can crop up in the show.

The fact he's decided to avoid this meeting means he can get ****ed when he inevitably moans about the storylines he's been given to the press. This was his opportunity to moan to the person who can actually do something about them.

And on the other end of the spectrum, Anthony Cotton is licking arse.

Someone like Jack will never leave Coronation Street unless he is axed. He is there too long and will find it very hard to not be typecast.
He does seem the type of person who has attitude and probably loves himself more than he loves anyone else.
If this story is true and if i was the boss i would axe him, non one is bigger than the show and you should respect the boss unless the boss is acting in a wrong manner or unprofessional.
He is one of the better actors/characters on the show but the show would survive without him. Maybe Kate wants David and Kylie to bow out together.

He probably does her garden, for her every sunday so he can stay in the show.

Arrogant git, if I was KO, I'd fire him now for the sheer hell of it - and make sure his exit meant he couldn't return under another producer.

Bet she's had a shock though, most of the long timers on Corrie think their untouchable and can do and say what they want. They need an icicle up the backside, a short, sharp, unpleasant shock to pull them down from that elevated platform they've put themselves on.

She can't fire him, he's easily the best actor under 40 on the show and a legacy character at that. Jack Shepard would have to murder someone to get fired from Corrie.

He doesn't have the right to tell her that he doesn't agree with the storylines etc if he won't go the meeting simple as.
