Tell me about it, I've made throwaway comments that I instantly forgot - not even remotely controversial - that have been noted and then brought up as petty remarks at appraisal time.

Bosses get a sense of humour bypass when they get the top job, and yes they do bring things up that are literally nothing, and make a big song and dance about it. Another place I worked at, one St David's day I was stuck on reception and it was really quiet. Most of the other staff had daffodil badges on pinned to their top, but I didn't as I hadn't wanted to spend my last quid on something that would go in the bin after I got home. So to try and join in and look a bit patriotic, I made a leek out of some old papers and an almost run out highlighter, and stuck it on the desk, thinking they'd be happy I'd tried to make an effort. Instead I got hauled into the boss's office next morning and got severely told off for wasting their green highlighters and making the place look like a playschool.

I do love your anecdotes collie.

I have to agree. Shepherd seems like an arrogant little upstart tbh.

I didn't agree to that
I think that he may have a weird sense of humour but he should have realised that getting to know your boss would be a priority

People in the soaps know each other well - just because she's new to this particular role at Corrie, she isn't new to soap or Corrie itself. She has worked at Corrie before.

David as a character is alright, but in real life he seems like a complete shitbag. I was reading an interview with him in some soap magazines the other day.....Omg! Who the hell does he think he is?! I couldn't believe how arrogant he was! He is really smug and cocky and thinks he's the bees knees!!

Seems he's been this way for years, I read somewhere that when he was younger, bouncers refused him in a nightclub for being underage so he yelled, don't you know who I am?! I'm David Platt!!

It's no surprise he was cocky enough to refuse to talk about David to his boss given how much of a prick he seems. I don't know if the fame went to his head big time, or if that's how he's always been, even before he was playing David

People criticise Anthony Cotton for always sucking up to the bosses. Now people are doing the same to Jack for allegedly doing the opposite!

Er how is it unconnected??? Oldnjaded spoke about what I'd read and I responded with what I had....

This forum is for opinions. And as for your response to MY OPINION ... pot.kettle.black.

I'm going to be the bigger person here because it clearly isn't going to be you.

Ignore and mute.

(You'll probably respond to even this so do so if you must (**yawn**)

If true, she could just kill him off. Jack runs to her office "Kate, what the hell? I'm being written out?"

"Well you did decline the meeting!"

Life is much easier living in Pyongyang, everybody has the same opinion. They don't know how well off they are.

Thank you for this comment. It's always great when someone speaks their mind and doesn't shy away from calling out these actors. It seems you can't criticise anyone on here without the regular gaggle of harridans freaking out over their beloved soap actors being appraised truthfully. At times it feels like a sycophantic fan forum and if your not gushing or wetting your knickers over something you're persecuted.

As a character David is tired. All he gets is merry go round cliche ridden storylines and hasn't had any serious developments in years. Shepherd is beyond obnoxious and is ego is enormous and for that reason alone I've gone off the character, which is a shame as I love Gail and he's her only child I used to like.

Corrie's greatest downfall is its reluctance to cut loose the deadwood. I fear Oates will be no different. Maria is getting a storyline, oh goody, which man will the stupid bimbo drop her knickers for next.

Have to say I do think Shepherd is a little arrogant for his own good. I wouldn't mind but he's hardly a top actor, probably as good as you are going to get in a soap but not good enough to carry off a leading role in a big drama or film.

I liked David as a character but like the last poster, I've grown a little tired of the type of storylines he's been given.

I guess its not helped the fact that Kylie has had a big break when she was pregnant and now she is leaving, its more the fact his storylines have been around others rather than being given something of his own.

He's quite complex and I like the past storylines between him and Sarah, hopefully they keep both him and Sarah single and we can see the Platt's have storylines rather than it being all about Kylie or Nick.

Most people with any sense would do their best to stay on the right side of a new boss, not give them reason to be pissed off, especially in acting/TV, which is a fickle business where there's always somebody willing to step into your shoes.”

Is Jack difficult to work with though? I'v never heard of any of the actors complaining about him. Also there are very famous actors that are notoriously hard to work with but people still hire them because they are good at what they do.

I'd have axed him for that, see if he is so arrogant when he has to look for another role...

Lol, what melodramatic bollox! I'm pretty sure that the only objection people have is to people who criticise actors who they don't know and never will know, based purely on the crap and distorted articles printed in the gutter press. Talk about the characters all you like, but leave the actors out of it unless you have personal experience of them.

It speaks!

No some posters on here object to anything slightly negative posted about an actor on here. I don't read gutter rags either, but to dismiss them out of hand so quickly is really pathetic. It's usually by fans that love to blow smoke up said actors a-holes and have some delusional hero worship thing going on and go feral when they find out their idol sh*ts like the rest of us. Miller and his fanatics are the absolute worst.

Also social media is a much better judge of character, one that isn't distorted and certainly cannot be manipulated by someone with an agenda. Shepherd is even more odious on there.

Can I ask, does your last sentence cut both ways or does it only apply to me. If you've never had a personal moment, how pretentious, how can you post anything positive about them seeing as your getting a PR filtered package?

Honestly that last sentence just comes off as so pathetic and childish. Yes that's right, I'm a grown woman, but I cannot possibly form a judgement or an opinion for myself unless I've met them. I bet you form opinions of celebs all the time without meeting them.
