Never seen Letitia Dean won any awards in recent years. She has been brilliant recently in EastEnders and also the whole Dennis Murder storyline and when Den came back from the dead. The only time she ever won an award was an Inside Soap Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.

I think she's one of Eastenders weakest actresses, was in the right place at the right time when she was cast, and has been lucky to be in work this long.

I completely agree. I have never been a Sharon fan or a fan of the actress.

Letitia has been amazing this week. When the writing is good for her she shines.

I'm a fan of the character and the actress but she's not consistently good like Lindsey Coulson, Linda Henry, Diane Parish etc. Sharon is an EastEnders legend but she isn't a strong actress. However she has been fantastic during Xmas and January, to be fair. She's very camp

No she is not but she plays Sharon very well and excels in the dramatic stuff.

I think she's fantastic, but unfortunately any actor can only be as good as the material they're given and since her 2012 return she has largely been very poorly written for. A formerly strong femme fatale type of character, she returned a very weak woman with nothing to her name, a pain killer addiction and the need to have a man to look after her. There have been moments though where she has absolutely shone, and the writers seem to be doing better by her now meaning she can shine more and more. She's found her backbone and her pride again.

But let's face it, the awards aren't everything. It's my opinion that Danny Dyer is a very weak actor but yet he keeps winning awards for some reason that I cannot even begin to comprehend.

She was up for a BAFTA circa 1995! Her work up until then was always good. I think she doesn't knows how to play Sharon any more because the writers don't know what they're doing with the chatacter. She shouldn't have come back, I really don't think she has any stories left. The actress must know this, but acting is a fickle business - who wouldn't want job security?

Letitia is fantastic and so camp.

I'll never understand why people say she's really bad.

Each to their own I suppose. Also, I wonder why Letitia keeps herself to herself so much these days? She always used to attend award ceremeoies, etc... In the early 00's.

I'm pretty certain she was never up for a BAFTA!

I concur Miss M. I think her previous stints were stronger but she still keeps me watching EE.

Pretty much this. Not to say she hasn't had her moments, but she's not a strong actress and is very inconsistent., and frequently injects high drama when none is needed. In this stint the level of her acting has gone from piss poor to acceptable. I think if they did nominate her she would lose out to much stronger actresses, of which EE is fortunate to have many. Mind you we know that these awards are more of a popularity contest than anything so I suppose anyone can win.

Have our top actors like Lindsay Coulson and Linda Henry ever won an award, or Steve McFadden, Michael French, Nitin Ganatra.

Lindsay, Nitin, Michael and Steve have all won some sort of award for their work in EastEnders at various points. As has Letitia who has several Inside Soap gongs to her name.

Linda hasn't because she isn't one of their 'top' actors. In fact she plays the same role in everything. She has no range what so ever. The only place I ever see praise for Linda is on here.

So if your post was a dig at Letitia its backfired.

I merely asked a question. I always understood that Steve had been passed over for years. As for Masood I only remember him getting best partnership one year. For the purpose of soap awards Linda plays Shirley, just as she's required to do, just as Steve plays Phil (I've never seen him play anyone else). I think they're the best actors currently in the show.....that's my opinion.

Which is different to someone else's, some people don't like that, so will accuse you of slagging off or whatever.

It's a pity Michael French and Lindsey Coulson never won awards

I miss David and Carol. They were my favourite characters in 2014 and it was a shame to lose the actors.

Steve is very underrated but I think he has a chance to win some awards but Danny Dyer is very popular. It'd be nice if Steve gets some recognition this year.

I never understand why people presume that if you dislike a character then you have it in for the actor. I don't know any actors, not a one (unless you count my granddaughter), but I'm sure they're all great people. As I've said before, I don't do fandom, but I do admire talent, but talent has s@d all to do with who gets a soap award.
