Hope you get some quality nod time tonight Ursula.
![]() I always find that the beautiful piece of music by Vaughn Williams called The Lark Ascending makes me sleepy. If you appreciate a bit of classical music, you should try it. |

![]() Actually I find songs from the 60s & 70s have aged a lot more than most 80s & 90s songs. Even though I prefer the late 60s & 70s music generally. As for an older decade such as the 1960's I tend to think many of those songs have mostly become timeless, yes they are now old but not what I'd call dated. Others may strongly disagree. |

The dance acts you quote all produced wonderful tracks in the summer of 82. I bought Patrice, Sharon, Evelyn, RockersR back in the day. To your list I would add Sharon Redd, Boystown Gang and Grandmaster Flash.
And for Sharon Redd - especially the flip side of 'Never Give You Up', François Kevorkian's dub mix of 'Beat The Street' ... massive in the clubs then, and one of the influences for New Order's 'Blue Monday'. ![]() So much great music from that year - not all of which we'll get to see on TOTP ... |

I actually disagree with you Ursula. For me the early 90's hits have aged far worse than the early 80's ones. Certainly from a production point of view. For example, when I hear a combined pair of charts played on Pick Of The Pops and they play 1977 then 1988 I always find the 1977 singles have stacked up far better over time, even though they are older. If I was to take 1982 versus 1994 then I'd say '94 has aged far worse, citing Baby D's No1 hit Let Me Be Your Fantasy as an example.

Actually, I quite like Love Come Down, but I would class that as a single that hasn't aged well. Compare that to her previous hit Shame which is a timeless classic. After seeing it on TOTP last week, another single that has dated badly is It Ain't What You Do.
Agree it's even less dated than Love Come Down, which I do think holds up very well still. |

It's a YES from me for 'The Message' and also 'Planet Rock' and 'Magic's Wand' from 1982.

Love Sharon's "In the Name of Love".
Don't have that one on vinyl so You Tube it is. |

I'll flip Sharon's 45 over tomorrow Servalan and give 'Beat the Street' an airing. Long overdue.

I'm enjoying having a late night read of some of the posts here and pleased to see that a tasteless provocative one has vanished. The things that have really dated since 1982 are motor cars. But that's another subject. I wonder who remembers these or even maybe drove them;

They appear later in 1982 for the final time. |

If your talking seeing them back then, the Haircuts, where did you see them? I think they played the (then) Hammersmith Odeon in 1982? My first gig was Soft Cell, Hammersmith Palais early '83, March I think. My first should have been Blondie at Wembley in late 1982, I had a ticket, but, they cancelled.

Does Showaddywaddy count? My first one on 30th May 1981. Not the coolest but a good show for me at almost 12.
They appear later in 1982 for the final time.

CB400 Superdream GSX 550 Sorry mate i didn't see you... Hospital. Then a second hand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b1AxI_YK_Y Eat my TURBO! Don't laugh but my first "contraption" for the highway was one of these; https://youtu.be/-fXV6KzhBbM - Very good advert though. ![]() A seven year old 1979 registered blue one with a thick navy stripe down the side. Had it weeks before my 17th birthday turn up on the drive one day as a parental gift. Lost count of the amount of times I ended up towed home in it. After 3 years sold for just £80 for scrap in 1989! I've just discovered that Noel test drove it for Top Gear! ![]() https://youtu.be/OWuZyRsRxWU I could not agree more with Noel's thoughts on the front look of the thing. It was ugly. |

I was only speaking to a biker today who had a serious accident and received a head injury which has entirely changed his personality from a happy kind of chap to a very troubled and frustrated one with anger and now needing the services of a psychiatrist.
