I actually disagree with you Ursula. For me the early 90's hits have aged far worse than the early 80's ones. Certainly from a production point of view. For example, when I hear a combined pair of charts played on Pick Of The Pops and they play 1977 then 1988 I always find the 1977 singles have stacked up far better over time, even though they are older. If I was to take 1982 versus 1994 then I'd say '94 has aged far worse, citing Baby D's No1 hit Let Me Be Your Fantasy as an example.
As for an older decade such as the 1960's I tend to think many of those songs have mostly become timeless, yes they are now old but not what I'd call dated.
Others may strongly disagree.

Actually agree with you Rich (although not about Baby D). 1990 has really aged badly, so many songs included a rap in the middle, which sounds so old fashioned today.

I'm sure we discussed Shame back on the 1978 thread three years ago Boz but I'm not sure if I or anyone else ever mentioned that it reminds me strongly of another big disco hit at the very same time - A Taste Of Honey's Boogie Oogie Oogie.
Agree it's even less dated than Love Come Down, which I do think holds up very well still.

I agree that songs from the 60s & 70s are more iconic & ever popular songs - but I still think a lot of 90s grunge & Brit pop still sounds as fresh now, as it did back then (even though I'm not much of a fan!) - Not all the 90s dance rubbish & remixes though!

Mine too Ursula. You likely saw my post to Andy at gone half three this morning. Mind you I was tired by then. I had my 4 hours sleep and was up ready for a busy day ahead. Felt fine and awake all day. I got in this evening and sat with the laptop reading some of the posts between 7pm and 8pm while watching an episode of Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads. Suddenly I must have gone into a quick micro-sleep and the next thing I knew was that my laptop had fallen off my lap onto the floor upside down with a huge clatter, woke me up instantly, and also realised I'd missed the end of my programme too. But suddenly I was as wide awake and alert, just like now in the midnight hour. My GP has actually told me once that if I don't feel tired then don't go to bed, whatever time it is. If you are in bed and awake and not tired, get up and do something un-stimulating - not going on DS then I guess!

Just wondering if any of you out there have seen any of the bands/artists performing live? So far in 82 I have seen at least one band a weekon the show including my first gig, Haircut 100 and I am not ashamed lol!

Does Showaddywaddy count? My first one on 30th May 1981. Not the coolest but a good show for me at almost 12.

If your talking seeing them back then, the Haircuts, where did you see them? I think they played the (then) Hammersmith Odeon in 1982? My first gig was Soft Cell, Hammersmith Palais early '83, March I think. My first should have been Blondie at Wembley in late 1982, I had a ticket, but, they cancelled.
