Thanks Ramraider, appreciate that. I also adore the next Bucks Fizz single, Now Those Days Are Gone, infact much more nowadays than I did when it came out in 1982 when I recall feeling underwhelmed. I'll save further comment until it gets shown. By the way, I'm not actually in MK. Check your map, NP is just to the North East. The M1 motorway separates us! My old senior school playing field borders the M1 along the top edge and back in 1982 at the time of these editions I would weekly be doing cross country runs in PE by having to run to the top of the playing field and wait for the teacher and then we'd jog over the motorway bridge and officially into MK, the motorway was the NE border between MK and NP and we would run around the nearby muddy undeveloped lake area and back across the bridge over the M1 and across the playing field back into school and a shower. Oh yes, one of the things that I associate heavily with the year 1982 is the communal shower twice weekly all year, mostly after mucky runs.


Very much "Nolans". Naughty apostrophes. My spellchecker added them. But there was no mention of the Nolans in my 20,004th post Boz, because that post was something I wrote about the remade Are You Being Served? on Sunday night. But my 20,000th post mentioned the Nolans without a doubt.


Thanks Ursula. I don't tend to pay much attention to the post count on here and it doesn't mean much but it's amazing how it mounts up. You can't help but notice when a milestone figure is approaching. I'm glad that you and others liked my resume of the 25/3/82 edition of TOTP which was my 20,000th post early on Sunday night on this thread.

Just one question however and I do wonder what people on here prefer to read in terms of post length? Are quite lengthy posts appreciated or are they too long for people's attention span? Just wondering. I know I don't write such things every week, but if people would prefer more bitesize comments rather than a heap all in one go feel free to say.

Personally I enjoy reading an article regardless of length, it's the quality of writing and the nuance of opinion which stand out for me.

If some humour is thrown in for good measure that's a bonus too if done in an inclusive way, so go for it & keep up the good work would be my 'two penneth'

BIB - I don't mind the longer posts but I'll normally read them when time permits, for example I've just had a quick scan through a couple of pages of posts, making a mental note to go back and read Rich and Andy's reviews later.

Although all posts are an interesting read - I have to say I LOVE the quick one liners best that appear at the 7.30pm TOTP Showings!! - Always quick witted & a good read from all the usual suspects out there! You know who you are!!

Apologies Rich, I misunderstood how Digital Spy keeps count of posts! When I read your 20,000th post, DS said you had made 20,004 posts. Looking back at that post again, it now says you have made 20,020 posts. So what I thought was a fixed number on each post is in fact updated on old posts each time you make a new post.

Well I have to break it to you again but it really wasn't your 20,000th post and the above post is not your 20,020th.

You'll work it out at some point no doubt.

Edit: which has now moved from 1,749 posts to 1,750 after I made this post which proves my point.

I like both long and shorter posts. If I am not interested in the topic, I tend to ignore and move on to something I am more interested in. I like the longer posts which review the editions such as your own, Andy's and Clare's.

Love any posts which feature posters' top 5s. Always find some 'eye openers' among the choices.

As Ursula says, some of the shorter posts which appear during the edited TOTP are very observant and witty.

Finally I do like 'witty posters' : Andy 1302 has to be King here. But I have found myself laughing out loud to some of Straker's posts and LGO7 likewise ( and a good few others) and Torch's love for Soft Cell and heavy rock has also incurred much mirth chez moi.

You might've been, but I wasn't.

Rich Tea has had a little miscalculation. You see, while the post count goes up with each post made it also goes down whenever a post is removed. Rich Tea has had a number of posts removed over his time on the forum so his post count has fluctuated. This means that the post he thought was his 20,000th cannot have actually been so.

Of course, if he knows how many posts he's had removed and then does a count back he might be able to pin-point his actual 20,000th post. But then, it's only numbers. Who really cares, eh?

I'm about to sit down and absorb your two Countdown Capers Andy, from 18th and 25th March 1982. Such effort on your part deserves them to be looked forward to as a special treat and I bet I get more smiles and laugh's than I did watching Are You Being Served on Sunday evening. Glad I manage to amuse you on occasions Mr RR. There is however a slightly bizarre connection there though as (the mighty) Soft Cell did in their heyday cover some 'rock' type songs (Hendrix specifically) back in '82. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLoDVpg8kek That was released as a 'bonus' 12" with the initial copies of their 'Art Of Falling Apart' album. A......Mmmm, bizarre and enjoyable curio perhaps in terms of their artistic output? Or indeed just a tedious dirge as I myself first thought back then and for the most part do still now. I sort of enjoy hearing it on relatively rare occasions though.

A week away for myself has ended, the Canary Islands were WAY too hot to bear and I most definitely shall not be returning again at this time of the year in future and there's now also far too much to catch up on here tonight. But, a brief skim through somewhat suggests I didn't miss much from actually missing last week's TOTP.

Having just finished reading up on one and a half Countdown Capers, I commend you Andy for managing to put the imaginary substance of Dilithium Crystals into your post. Even long time thread member Servalan has yet to drop the name Orac into any of his....I think.

I do need you to forward your details to me in a PM though Andy, as I may need to take legal action against you for making me choke on my Fig Roll crumbs as I read. Yes, it was more amusing than last Sunday night on BBC1.

Only recently did I discover that the individual post limit was 20,000 characters. That number again! It may be 19,985 or 20,015 characters though. You can never be sure it seems. At least it helps to keep our worst keyboard excesses in check.

A fab read again BUT it's only 9.5/10 with a half point deduction for my Fig Roll choking fit. I mean, do I really want croaking by Fig Roll written on my death certificate when my name is Rich Tea?

I always thought what a bizarre song to reach No 1. Even more bizarre is that it could've been the first song that I ever heard, as I popped out into the world, on that warm August day!! It was a Saturday though - so unlikely they were counting down the charts at the time!
