Well - a bit better than last week - but still only a 6&half/10 for me. 'Ghosts' pulling up the score luckily.
The question is ongoing as to whether they will start showing DLT's editions after next month? If not it will paint the BBC in an exceptionally hypocritical light considering that DLT's suspended sentence will have expired by then and technically he will be a free man. His solitary crime was nowhere in the same league as Savile, yet the BBC continue to act as if it was.
Tony Blackburn will make a return for a few 1983 editions, will these editions also now be blocked by the zealots at the BBC?

He had served his time in prison for his offences but yet the BBC continued to "airbrush" him out of existence.
People who have done worse than DLT aka Boy George were happily paraded by the BBC on The Voice. The BBC only seem to block people (other than Savile) who they deem to have no worth to them. It was reported that Peel himself has been found to of been involved with several under-age people but the BBC won't block him due to the legacy he left at the BBC.

That clip was from the TOTP celebrating "15 years of Radio 1" show in 1982. All the then presenters of Radio 1 appeared and presented the show, much like the 1981 Xmas special (also blocked on BBC Four repeats).

There has been speculation that the BBC are considering showing DLT shows in the New Year when we get to 1983. Absolutely nothing certain though. We can only keep our fingers crossed.
No reason for Tony's editions to be blocked. He didn't commit any crime. But with the BBC, it's difficult to call.

Put it this way if the BBC don't show his editions then DLT will have every right to sue the BBC and would probably win.

ALL of JK's American chart segments have been edited out of both the early and late editions. Hasn't he been questioned in the last year about other offences? This might be the reason.

Have you seen them lately? I was amazed how young Paul Gambaccini looked (at 1.33) and initially mistook Anne Nightingale (at 1.52) for one of Bananarama - both are still broadcasting on BBC radio.

It's called "Early 80s style & fashion" and people forget too easily & are too quick to judge!!
Remember a lot of people in the early 80s (except for cutting edge pop stars), may still be wearing clothes & hairstyles from the late 70s - unless they were highly fashionable & trend setters of the time. Think back to your friends, family, school teachers of that period - did they all look like Toyah Wilcox, Simon Le Bon or Adam Ant? - No - they probably looked more like Simon Bates or Tony Blackburn!!
Just because it's a pop music show it doesn't mean every single person on set, dressed like a pop star back then. Some people were cool & some not so cool. Just like today - some people are cool & trendy and others are not so cool. It's life!!

I know Radio 1 had become very stale by then, but I actually preferred the old format to what we have now. It certainly appealed to more listeners back then & there was something for everyone. Now there's just something for everyone under the age of 25!

Yes indeed I was in my late 20s when The DJs got the boot from 93 and at that time was a regular Radio One listener. but stopped listening to it at that point. Suppose I was of the age group Bannister wanted to get shut of so in my case at least it worked
