Am sure I read that the tune was written for ToTP, then it was decided to release a signal so Phil invented the lyrics.

Extraordinary fact about Alton Edwards on the TOTP Facts Twitter account:

Quote:
“Alton Edwards was jailed for 18 months in 1992 for trying to con IKEA out of £54,000 to pay off his mortgage arrears.

He delivered a request to a bank for the money to be transferred to an account of his – using the IKEA letterhead – and it was!”

They should have had 57 members and called themselves 'Heinz'.

Nice one. That made me laugh......almost as much as Peter's dance.

In a week's time, I'll be as old as Meat Loaf was in this video.

There's a thought I wish I never had.

That's not the greatest leap of judgement Peter Powell has ever made.

Ooh, hello, who's this lot?

The delayed jump was probably down to the change in the chart sales week for the first two months of 1982 as the TOTP effect kicked in a week later than usual (as I mentioned earlier the chart cut off point changed to a Friday for a while at the start of 1982 so any Saturday sales boost affected the chart a week later than usual).
