Any votes for the "most surprising non-hit of 1982"? I'd say "In The Name Of Love" by the Thompson Twins. A huge club hit but never even made the top 75.

I preferred January 1982 - it was rather snowy back then!

Well that's a good pick. Great song.

Personal favourites wise I'd add two Go-Go's singles - 'We Got The Beat' - huge US hit but failed to make the top 75 here and their version of 'Our Lips Our Sealed' which only made No. 47.

Also, Billy Idol's 'Hot In The City' which eventually became a top 20 hit when re-released some years later but failed to get higher than number 58 when originally released back in '82.

I may actually have liked this show more than last week's, and possibly because it includes more retro type sounds, which is always going to be a plus with me. Pigbag were a great opener, and a fine example of what i said was lacking in a previous post - more authentic 'musical' sounds.

.”

'Our Lips Our Sealed' should've been a much bigger hit!! - I reckon if it had been released in about 1979/80 it could've been Top 10!!

Just think it is the is the year Irene Cara got to the top with Fame.

And then came Hi Fidelity, Valerie Landsburg's vocal is brilliant, then arguably the best song which was Star Maker, although it is an ensemble song Debbie Allen is outstanding on it

It's not got a girl's name in the title has it? - Marie, Marie, Oh Julie, Shirley... he must've run out of names in his little black book by now!!

Lucky you - it's painfully bad - unlistenable, forgettable, tosh.
There's better to come from old rubber legs in 1982.

The Scottish song is so much better. No bias whatsoever here, of course.

Well I'm glad something has finally cheered you up Mr Eraserhead.
Watching this Haircut tosh has unfortunately transported me into your initial misery.

You bet Robbie.

January 1982 is one of the fondest pop music and cold weather months of my life. It can never be beaten.

So do I, Andy. A far superior tune.
To be honest , the Haircuts weren't that good a group.
A bunch of lookers with dodgy pastel yellow clothes tucked inside bits they shouldn't have been tucked inside ... if you get my drift.
