I never realised all these years he was singing "Rock and Roll and Brew".

That has to have a point absolutely deducted for the posing body builders at the end! I mean, what the hell was that all about?
![]() Enjoyed Yellow Pearl, Meatloaf/Cher and The Mobiles, little else of interest to me tonight. I'm bored of the HL song. Very, very average show. 5/10. Far better coming up next week which I'll catch up with in due course. |

Yes, but the camera shot sequence looks very familar - and again Jo is slightly late looking into the camera for the first low level shot. I wonder if they just rehearsed one studio performance for both weeks?

Love this Mobiles song. Sounds like a Toyah song to me though. I can totally imagine her singing it. Quote:

Great performance from The Mobiles - even if they are a bit too much like Siouxsie!! Surprised they didn't have more hits!

Won't see the next edition as it's a DLT show but we then get 5 in a row uninterrupted.

Trivia alert: I recall Tommy Vance saying on the Sunday Top Forty chart rundown at the time that all the men in that group had dark hair which had been bleached but the black haired female singer was a natural blonde.

Amazing we all think of a different singer comparison for The Mobiles singer!!
![]() Not looks wise obviously, but vocally and potential song fit to another. I could imagine Hazel perhaps doing that one also though.

Indeed. I was closest with Toyah though.

'Stool Pigeon' is a great track. I bought the single at the time.
The album Tropical Gangsters was one of my favourite LPs of the year! Possibly overlooked nowadays and seen as novelty even but the musicianship is second-to-none and August Darnell was one cool dude!

Oh, yep, very much agree. Actually the singer also vaguely reminded me of Grace Slick from Starship, which is probably a bit random! I think it was the wide eyed thing she kept doing. Interesting Grace 'then and now' type shot here. http://www.whale.to/c/jefferson_starship.html

I remember thinking Grace Slick was rather gorgeous the first time I saw the old footage of her singing 'White Rabbit' in 1967 aged 27 with the swirling psychedelic camera effects in the background.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANNqr-vcx0 There are some more recent videos of her being interviewed on YouTube. Obviously a lot of water has passed under the bridge since she was in her prime but it was interesting to see how time had treated her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTmP8lRazfg |
