Such a shame Irene didn't do as well as she deserved.
I think she had one more good hit after this. |

Leroy died back in 2003.
![]() So many of that cast are memorable instantly you see them again. Fame is the summer of 1982 in a nutshell.

Lots of slightly old songs doing well in the charts in 1982: The Model (1978), Being Boiled (1978), Fame (1979/80), I Second That Emotion (1980).

How many weeks were we into Fame series 1 at this point? Wasn't it being played out straight after totp?

I've got the week Fame went to No1 on tape with the "Britain's No1" jingle before it begins. Loved that No1 jingle.

Flashdance. Great record. Moroder is God.
Both great songs, sum up the 80s and 80s films in an instance. |

I recorded Fame from Gambo's weekly American chart countdown in summer 1980 and used to dig it out to listen to when 'Fame' was at number 1!

Looking forward to Irene Cara's Flashdance...What A Feeling getting to number two in the charts in the summer of 1983. One of my favourite hits of the 1980s.
