Two very good episodes.

Normally seeing Modern Romance twice in an hour would be enough to tip me over the edge but i actually enjoyed it!

Paul Weller's favourite song, he liked it so much he named his daughter after it, "Jesamine" by the Casuals.

"What a great way to finish a career", said Peter Powell. It was only Bruce's and Rick's careers that he finished. (Did they get redundancy pay??)

A more energetic live version of 'Beat Surrender' as Paul introduces it as the new single on 'The Tube' from November '82.

Well - what with Christmas & all the TV schedules being all over the place - I've just managed to catch up on tonight's two episodes:-

Good episodes tonight - although it all feels rather rushed!! Love RIO by Duran Duran but for some reason - I always thought it made No1!!

7/10 - for episode 1, 6/10 - for episode 2!

It's pretty disappointing that "Healing" by Marvin Gaye only got one showing on the programme on the Kid Jensen 11th November episode. It reached number 4 so you'd expect 2 showings.

Great to see the beautiful Dee C Lee again. Shame her solo career never flourished. I wonder where she is now.

'Hymn' by Ultravox made a gallant attempt to crack the Top 10 by the end of '82, even into the beginning of '83. It featured for the 3rd time on the Mike Smith/Tommy Vance editon of January 6th '83 when it was at No.12.

The skipped DLT show is another excellent edition. The highlight for me is "Talk Talk", but Culture Club's "Time" isn't far behind (I much prefer this to either of their no. 1s). I like Ultravox's "Hymn", but it's one of those videos that distracts from the song rather than adding anything to it. Yazoo's "The Other Side Of Love", however, pales next to their earlier hits. I'm surprised by how much of Musical Youth's "Youth Of Today" I remembered (particularly the line about buying a keyboard).

Speaking of which - just the two Jupiter 8's on display in this one, played by Vince Clarke and Mike Score.

The lowlight of this edition is Supertramp's "It's Raining Again" - this track drew particular derision from John Peel when it was reviewed on Roundtable: "If my son came home from school and said 'Dad - look at this poem I've written - Come on you little fighter/No need to get uptighter' - I'd box his ears!"

The lyrics on Save A Prayer weren't bad IMO.

Great to see the League in the studio with Mirror Man, after it was bizarrely cut out of the early show - one of the strongest shows of 1982 so far! Simon and the Duran boys looking to have plenty of fun out there, and one of there very best efforts...

They redeemed themselves by showing 'Mirror Man' the next edition.

Every time I hear 'Living on the Ceiling' I feel Blancmange should have got together with Monsoon.

For my Dundee people on the thread, do you think Renato resembles Ally Bally from Radio Tay?

Renee and Renato - as cheesy as possible, but such a pleasure to listen to Renato's voice, even if the video is a bit cringey/creepy... I always did wonder if the woman was Renee in the video and apparently it was just a model, and the singer Renee was actually a Hilary Lester...

Madness and Our House - I think this was the only Madness single I ever bought, and probably my favourite of theirs other than the cover of It Must Be Love... another great show here!

I know it's already been posted but I'll pop it on again. Kenny Everett's spoof of 'Save Your Love':

I got the picture disc of 'Our House' for Christmas '82 as well as a pair of headphones. I blasted 'Our House', 'Beat Surrender' and 'Hymn' endlessly.

Two very good editions this evening. Living On The Ceiling, Rio, Young Guns, Our House, Beat Surrender, Mirror Man all highlights.

Funny seeing Pat Sharp and Gary Davis being a little Lady Diana when being introduced to the nation. Janice Long, on the other hand, seems to have just hit the ground running with her enthusiasm.

I've managed to collect most of Madness' original singles but Our House is one of the handful that's somehow escaped me so far, which is particularly annoying as it's one of my favourites. Still have to pinch myself that I actually got to sing it with Suggs himself for a special version of the song. Definitely a life highlight.
