Indeed. Total shame. I'll second everything you've said there.

Yes - sadly there are a few famous faces, who left us too early, I could apply that to!

Great news for Associates fans, two videos have recently appeared on YouTube of the band performing Club Country and Party Fears Two while walking around Kensington Roof Gardens in May 1982, filmed for a French TV programme. They'd apparently been stored away in an archive for 34 years:

Great - not seen the Country Club one before. Gutted we won't see them do it on TOTP & it's a great appearance from what I remember!!

After the use of popular actors, it was time to turn the spotlight on the talent show format, and giving the contestants, many of whom had literally become celebrities themselves in their own right, the opportunities to sing the songs. It certainly saved in promotion, and especially like i remarked earlier, they were cherry picked favourites of the audience already. It was hard to see initially how they could fail. Longterm, of course had the potential to be a very different story.”

Sorry, but neither of you have made the point well at all. You have just ignored what I have said and answered a different question. Total failure. But let's leave it, I'm getting bored of it and I'm sure everyone else is. I just don't like it when posters hijack the thread to post their dismal anti SAW and Cowell comments (especially as neither were bothering the charts in 1982!)

Can't believe this has only been on twice before and one of those was Yewtreed. Feels like a lot more. At least it's a different performance.

They must've had to keep Savile away from Annabelle with a net and pointy sticks or was she already too old for him?

Better BWW performance than last time. Love this song. I always thought she was a far more 'energetic' performer though.
