Name the acts that ended up being wasted potential on the show?
big bang theory

Which X Factor acts do you feel was talented that got ended up getting ruined when it came to the live shows? Or that the singer themselves didn't seem to understand their own sound very well?

Here's my list.

Max Stone - I feel that Max had a nice sounding voice, but the main issues that hit him in my view was a lack of confidence onstage, and himself and Simon not knowing his sound should've been more Indie Folk rather than Reggae or Soft Rock which is the genres that took him down on the show which wasn't wise in my opinion.

Mason Noise - He should've been treated like the shows very own Drake, yet they turned him into a Justin Bieber act.

Monica Michael

Lauren Platt - A Birdy/Dido route would've been good for her instead of the Diva singers the show was having her sing.

Only The Young - A Folk group if ever there was one, yet the show kept giving them Pop Rock songs or out and out kids songs to sing.

Paul Akister - Not my kind of singer, but he could sing so he should've been given Soul songs to sing, or more Pop Soul songs like John Newman/Sam Smith instead of Rock songs like Meat Loaf to sing.

Jack Walton - A Folk singer being turned into a Justin Bieber act.

Abi Alton - An Indie Folk type of singer being given Pop songs to sing which was never a very good idea.

Melanie Masson - An actual Rock Chick on The X Factor that was given old Rock songs instead of any modern ones made her detatched from younger viewers as well as any older viewers that aren't into Rock Music, making her have a very limited support as a result of their management.

Jade Ellis

Kye Sones - They was too busy giving him bad VT's instead of focusing on any talent that he had in my view.

MK1 - An actual decent Hip Hop group showed up on the show and they was mistreated with bad time slots, and Pop song choices that didn't necessarily even suit them.

Janet Devlin - An Indie Folk singer that was given Pop songs to sing.

Misha B - Hit and miss with the song choices, and Tulisa and Louis killed her career off once and for all with the whole bullying claim.

Aiden Grimshaw - After his Mad World performance they just completely ignored what types of songs actually suited his voice and performing style and instead just gave him Pop songs to sing.

John Adeleye - He reminded me of those Easy Listening singers from the 90's that I've heard on Youtube recently.

Jamie Archer - He never got tested on one credible Rock song at the lives in my opinion.

I'm sorry to have named a load of them there, but is there any that you agree with me on? And is there any that you want to add?

Paul akister and meatloaf says it all really. I SAID elsewhere on here that even if jennifer phillips gets to the lives, these silly themes will be her downfall. Lauren and diva songs were also a bad mix.

John had a wonderful soulful voice, but when he sang 'A Song For You' all Simon commented on was the backing dancers

As said at various times over the years, Nikitta could have shone with a ballad but was given up tempo every week. The up tempo songs also highlighted Dionne's awkward stage movements.

Imagine if Nikitta or Dionne had been given Summertime - I don't think Dione would have ended up in the sing off.

Thanks for the link.

I like his Album too, it's just a shame that the show itself never seemed to appreciate him very much.

Misha B
John Adelye
Robert Allen
The Risk

Daniel Pearce and Nathan Fagen - Gayle not being out through to the lives was a waste of talent as well

I think Paul Akister going back was a huge mistake on his part. he should have taken the offer from Bluey to work with him rather than go back to a show that had turned him down on image for a pretty boy who couldn't sing

Ah, I believe that was on week three when John sang Zoom and yeah, that song and the backing dancers did him no favours at all. He sang A Song For You on week two.

Everyone on last year's overly rushed blink and you miss it series. Not helped by the fact that all but the final 2 were effectively thrown under the bus and given crap songs for the limited number of live performances they had.

Series 5: Rachel Hylton
Series 6: Miss Frank and Rachel A
Series 7: Treyc Cohen
Series 8: Misha B
Series 9: Jade Ellis

I disagree with the people who've said The Risk. They should have never been in the live shows with the member who was convicted of street robbery.

With all due respect you say that about the risk being convicted and then list Rachel Hylton - she was in trouble for a lot more.... I liked Rachel but You can't be hypocritical

Rachel was a drug addict. I'm not making excuses but addiction makes people do desperate things. What was the guy from The Risk's motivation? He also wasn't sorry for what he did as it later turned out he'd composed some raps boasting about being locked up.
