Slim pickings this year.

Honestly, not looking forward to any semi final. It's pretty much average all over. I think all of the talent has dried up.

I think there are some really good acts, but what I don't understand is why they put so many awful acts through to the live shows as well. I know it's meant to be for variety purposes, but they have put through some acts that are dire, like that huge dancing bear and that weird creature thing that wheels around the stage. Some good acts get left out for the sake of variety.

They get rid of some good acts for variety, but not a single good singer was sacrificed. Over 15 singers in the semi's, that is far too much.

They've always done it, and at times, (much more in the earlier series compared to now), it came across as extremely cruel. I can still remember back in Series 2 when they put Michael Machell, (the guy who played Star Wars on the keyboard), through to the live shows. It was clear that he wasn't good enough to go through as he kept making mistakes and was playing from a "How To Play" manual in front of him. He had so much hostility from the studio audience and he looked upset by it all. It was so uncomfortable to watch.

Paisley Kerswell, Scott & Muriel, Deja Vu, Katy & Paul and The Mimic Men should be in the semi-finals.

Any other acts that deserved to go through but didn't?

Dire? Absolute cr*p!

Even Walliams is (marginally) more entertaining.

The show has pretty much turned into X-Factor 2.0.

By which I mean, "Find Simon a new singer to manage"

Each semi is rigged and padded out with filler so that the chosen ones get through - it's not meant to be a competition - they already know who they want to win and it is set up to produce the "right" result. Tired old stuff

they put rubbish acts through just to get the country talking, families arguing with each other etc.
None of them woud get through americas got talent, they arent going to give a way a million quid lightly

The type of variety they tend to put through usually seem to be just filler to either mock or be weak competition for the singers and dancers. Basically to make up the numbers and be easier for singers to beat.
Don't get me wrong, they'll have one or two variety acts in the final which are good, but usually the best variety acts don't tend to trouble the final.

For example you don't get bad singers reaching the final whose sole purpose is to be there for 'a bit of fun'.

Well said. Too many acts get put through as being "really, really good" "You're going to be a star" and so on when in fact they haven't a snowballs chance of making it - theyr'e there justt o mock.

And when they get those magic words "The Royal Family will really love you." you know that you have really plumbed the depths of insincerity.

How's Simon going to make sure his golden buzzer act get through? I really didn't think those storm trouper dancers were anything special at all and I haven't heard anyone say they thought they were. Will he fill their semi with totally rubbish acts?

Even if he did that "act" would still be rubbish. There few, if any, acts as bad as that utter uncoordinated dross.
