Spice Girls 3 -new music and tour
It looks like that some of the Spice Girls will be touring with maybe some new music later in the year. As you may or may not know Mel B Geri and Emma were snapped going in to a recording studio early this month and later Mel B posted a pic of theme together. Also Elliot Kennedy who has worked with the girls on many projects has been dropping some hints on twitter that he is working with the girls again.
Thing is I used to be a huge fan of the girls back in the 90s and saw them twice in concert and owned all singles and albums but the later comebacks I didn't support because it was just milking the old hits. I also hoped they would make new music but as a trio it isn't Spice Girls is it?? The Girls are prob thinking that if it can work for TT it can work for them. I'm not sure I would buy any new music or go and see them in tour as a 3?? would you? |

Would maybe consider going to a show if it was less than £40 (fat chance right?), but yeah, without Mel C and Victoria it's hardly the Spice Girls. Still quite surprised Mel C pulled out, nowadays it seems like everyone and their mum is reuniting their once popular bands to get easy bucks.
The question is, what kind of venues are we expecting this 3 piece Spice Girls to play? Surely not The O2 or Wembley? |

I have zero interest in new music but would go see them perform the old hits for sure.
I can see myself paying 200$-250$ for a good seat |

Mel C is the second best singer isn't she? Without her it would be Mel B carrying the other two.
What kind of image would they go for as a trio of 40 year old women who had their biggest success nearly 20 years ago? Not saying it can't be done and I'm not ageist either, I'm just unsure I've seen this done before after such a long break. The only recent 90s pop successful comeback I can think of is The Corrs who released a new album last year that went top 10. |

They can do this without Victoria but Def not mel c it would have to be the 4 of them to give them any chance
I would see them again live but only with a new album, I saw the return of the spice girls tour in 2008 so without new music I wouldn't bother seeing them again |

Some people said that about TTIII and they went on to have a number 1 album and single and are breaking new ground all the time. I agree that it is a bad idea and a touch desperate but something is happening . Geri and Mel B and Emma have and are recording new songs together but that doesn't mean Mel C hasn't or cant . |

Like OP, I was the biggest Spice Girls fan and they were a massive part of my childhood. Had all the cassette tapes, VHS's, cds, books etc and I was really hoping they'd ALL tour for one last time and come to Scotland just so I could relive my childhood a bit.
My problem is, Spice Girls without Victoria I could deal with because all she did was sang a couple of lines and then posed looking moody as hell. But, without Mel C, its not gonna work as she was the best vocalist and sang most of the lines. Also, its gonna look stupid the 3 of them singing 'friendship never ends' when 2 of the girls aren't even there!! Looked stupid enough first time around when Geri left!! I cant really comment on the new music thing as it'll depend how good the song is. I don't want another dready 'friendship never ends' type of song like Headlines. Headlines grew on me and I actually like the song now but if they are gonna do new music, I want a fun, upbeat, catchy, pop/rnb song!! |

Difference being is take that were already established in their comeback before they went down to a 3, had take that come back as a 3 in 2006 they probably wouldn't be where they are today

I was young when Spice Girls were around in 90's and what I seem to remember was Geri was the overwhelming character eclipsing the rest at each turn.
I also remember thinking Mel C had the nicest/best vocals so with her out it could work if they find other strengths to compensate. A group like them with how the charts are now their best bet is to really create an amazing album and forget about singles, kind of like what All Saints have just done. They'd have to promote loads also as the SG name doesn't carry the weight it did in 1997 etc. Young people don't care about stats and who groups used to be just the music/trends of now. |

Geri has her own album coming out soon so I can't see this being true.

I like the Spice Girls but I wouldn't go to see them if all five girls weren't there and I more than likely wouldn't buy a new album if Mel C wasn't on it.
I understand they want to mark the anniversary but they could do that with a Wembley Stadium gig (or a few of them) which would probably see Victoria agreeing to do it. Mel C and Emma were always the best vocalists to me, and have produced the best solo work, I wouldn't like a project that only featured one of them. |

You just cannot compare the spice girls to take that !
They were a worldwide brand with huge individual personalities . Take That is just Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams with backing singers ! And they have hardly taken off as 3 piece |

The Take That comeback worked because they came back with a killer single, a more adult sound and image and had moved on rather than trying to be their own tribute act.
Regardless of my own opiion of Gary Barlow, the fact he writes damn good pop songs is what makes TT head and shoulders above the other boybands who have attempted a comeback. For Spice Girls to be anything more than a nostalgia act, they need to come back with their own Patience |

Well the girls need a killer single and new sound . Also mel c isn't at the studio but doesn't mean she can't record over it at another studio .
