Do you mean Andrew Hayden Smith? That would be good really, an actual long term coupling, but no doubt one of them must sleep with Ste, it's Hollyoaks rules.

The only one I can think of is Chryed from EastEnders, as once they were revealed they were settled.

Both of the actors themselves are gay. And in the release about Duncan James joining they say 'he's in a committed relationship' - instead of the more natural sounding 'he's deeply committed/in love to his wife/girlfriend/fiance' as if they're trying to hide who the relationship is with.

Incidentally - there was a bit of similar word-play in the press release when Paul Coker joined EE. They talked about how he'll be a charmer etc - without actually mentioning who he'll be charming.

If he is in a relationship with Andrew hayden Smith then I hope they will be in HO later getting it on.

Well, JJ and Kim Jr will probably go the way of every other child in Hollyoaks - disappear and never be mentioned again for the next decade (then they can be aged up a little and re-inroduced as teens.) There have also been rumours for a while that Joe's actor is planning to leave, so who knows how long he'll stay around ... think we're stuck with , though.

Were there reports of new McQueens? I hadn't heard of any ... we've still got half the last new batch that was introduced (and Reenie is supposed to reappear for Pete's trial.)

Well that clears half the village then

I hope they introduce a new house set, we only really have two houses, the Roscoes and the McQueens, and other families are shoved into tiny flats, I hope they don't do the same with this new family.

Well Duncan has a daughter by a previous girlfriend and in the past has described himself as both bisexual and gay. Sounds spot on for HO then .

But seriously gay Jeremy Sheffield played straight Patrick and I'm sure there must be various other gays that have played straights and vice versa though I can't think of any off the top of my head as I don't usually delve into such things.

I find this rather a bizarre casting

This angers me a little when popstars get parts in soaps/dramas etc why not give people who have studied the arts a chance and bring new talent into the soaps. Rachel Adedeji and Kym Marsh are the only two in my opinion who have made the transition really well.

Love Duncan James and hopefully he will be more than adequate.

Doubt he'll be courting with Andrew Hayden Smith though and fully expect him to be in a straight relationship, I'm not lucky enough to witness the former.

Do you not think that many musicians get a bit narked when soap "stars" and various actors get to release songs largely based on the fact that they're famous for a particular acting role? Off the top of my head I can think of more that have tried to cut a music career from acting than vice versa and as you say some transition well others not so much.

Many of these people would come from a broader background and have an interest in entertainment generally so why not have a shot at something different? Some people are good at many things eg Hugh Laurie comedy/acting/musician. To be fair to Duncan he has seriously outgrown his original genre so why not try something else?

I agree. It annoys me too. Especially in the theatre. People who study and work in theatre for years are still waiting for their big break. But then you get someone z list celebrity who is then cast in a big musical purely because of who they are. One of the main reasons why I think musical theatre is at such a low at the moment is because they cast simply anyone. And you have to be really talented to do musical theatre. But not these days

I was thinking the same thing when i read the article and jumped on the forum to see if anyone else thought the same.

If he is playing a gay character and they're bringing in his partner i think it's getting a bit much. Would there really be that many gays in one tiny village? And they only seem to be able to get with another gay in their village. I know HO is not known for being realistic but what is the fascination with it all anyway?!?!

He's bound to be an existing character's secret dad or some other retcon.

You watch, HO will probably make them the most stable couple, well at least for a few months

My prediction:

He will play a bisexual guy who will get it on with (Ste/Scott/JP/James delete applicable) and then a week later he will arrive with his family moving in to wherever. This will lead to whomever it was, to having to pretend to have never met them and then there being a secret which will get revealed at some point (YAWN!!)

Still not Dame Sheridan.

An OBE isn't the same as a Damehood.

(whatever did she do to merit an OBE anyway?? Had they run out of candidates or something?)

So either playing a role in his crystal meth storyline or sleeping with him - or both.
