Was Angie breaking the 4th wall there smirking directly to the camera at the end.

I think the biggest shame in the history of the show is that we never go to see Peggy and Angie meet.

It was great. Dramatic but very real and heartfelt.

I think so. Lovely touch. Getting the audience onside.

It makes my mind race with what might have been.

Also really downrun, grubby, dark and even dirty. The paint work of the outside of the Vic and wallpaper upstairs! It worked though, made it feel real.

I remembered it realy well as it was one of the first episodes I kept (used have to always record it on Thursdays as I was a member of an Orchestra which rehearsed then but generally wiped it each week) and rewatched probably dozens of times but it was Betamax so haven't had the means to play it for about 15 years.

Yes. Wonderful way of confirming, without words, that she was lying as it wasn't clear on first viewing until that final shot - her looking and smiling straight to camera made the Audience complicit in her deceit.

That's great. Where's that from?

Radio Times did it to celebrate the shows 25th Birthday in 2010.

Fantastic. I do wonder if Anita would have come back for a few cameos?

She said in the interview every single EP of the show right up to John Yorke who killed her tried to lure her back but that to her it never felt right to return as she wanted viewers to remember Angie as only ever being young. Pretty much like the quote Angie herself just used in this episode about Marilyn Monroe!

I don't think John Yorke should have killed her. I think there is a fair chance she would have returned eventually. A lot of actors have said they would never come back then do.

One of the finest episode's for me. Anita Dobson and Leslie Grantham immortalised Den and Ange even if Leslie did his best to ruin it, for me they were and indeed still are the very essence of Eastenders along with Sharon, Pauline, Michelle and Dot

I agree. Oh well, I suppose it's better she left us wanting more rather than coming back and being wrecked.

The scriptwriters are to blame for the demise of Dens comeback. He was treated shamelessly.

I'm surprised DTC didn't personally re-edit the episode to include all the changes he has made over the past few months, so it all adds up.

Great episode, and Den and Angie being forced from room-to-room in their own home by a mute window cleaner was amusing.

Just why Angie came up with a lie that gave her an expiration date, I don't know!

Angie and Roly had the same hair-stylist.

Everything looks drab. The Vic wouldn't become its iconic vibrant red for what, another 7 years?

Ha! That would be hysterical. Re-edit it so instead of those shots of the window cleaner we have dubbed mentions of Gavin, the Hubbards, Eric Mitchell.....

might be too late, there is a firing squad lining up to take aim at me as we speak

I think Mick and Linda will be a Den and angie type couple but with their own spin in a few years and will hopefully become an iconic pairing they have the talent and chemistry to pull it off

What a brilliant episode, I can see what all the fuss is about now with Den and Angie. I want more!

What a waste to kill Angie offscreen. What a waste the way Dens comeback ended. Its a case of what could have been.”

I totally agree! What a waste killing them off.
