Jay was removed from the Mitchells prior to Peggy's return and wasn't even an afterthought throughout it. Surely this is all the confirmation we need that those in charge don't consider Jay an important part of the Mitchell family. If anything his current status as a registered sex offender will lead to his exit.

How do others feel about Jay's current status?

I do question where they can go with Jay as a character in the square and the storyline does feel like like a run up to an exit.

I agree, the ben and Jay scene was good but really Jay and Peggy should have had a scene

I do hope Jay is brought back into the fold otherwise unless he gets back with Abi, then. he is at risk of being axed which would be a massive shame

Yeah. It's where he is registered in living now, which is why social services had to check whether it is ok for Jay to be living in a house with two little kids.

Jay is a good character he has his flaws but he is a loyal friend to many characters on the square and is not afraid to challenge people if he believes they are wrong. He has been so loyal to Phil over the years; I hate the way Phil has treated him now.

I thought Jay was bang out of order when he was giving cheek to the legend that is Phil. He took the orphan in and done a hell of a lot for him over the years. Jay's attitude was completely out of line. I hope Phil nor Sharon never welcome him back into the fold.

I don't think this is leading to an exit, I think this is the start of something. Phil will probably try and reach out to Jay when he stops and thinks about what an idiot he has been but Jay will tell him where to go. Then there are two possibilities - grant has declared war on Phil so might we see grant take Jay under his wing and use him in this battle? Which then would effectively have ben and Jay going up against each other? Or could it be that Max will team up with Jay when he is back? Max and Jay had a good relationship when Jay was with Abi and max would know how it feels to be shunned when you've done nothing wrong. Either way I think it will do the character good to get away from Phil and interact with others for a while.

Out of order?

He is the only character in Walford who the writers ever allow to stand up to the old scumbag and the Philth did not take Jay in out of the kindness of his heart - he stole him from Billy when he was feeling lonely and need a dogsbody.

Jay has more courage, decency and morality in his little fingernail than all of the core Mitchells have/had in their entire bodies.

I hope he tell them to get stuffed and can be his own man at last.

I get the feeling that someone in the EE production teams wants rid of Jay that's why they came up with this story.

I hope they take this opportunity to use him and give him his own story lines. He's one of the best actors they have on the show, they shouldn't waste it.

The ignorance of posts of these is exactly WHY they need to show that. He was a young adult who made a poor decision, ended up on a sex offender list, which was a harsh punishment for a naive act. But he's hardly down and out.

We have murderers, child abducters living in the square. It's ridiculous to suggest Jay could not come through this. And, if anything, they have a duty to almost show him do that, to not advocate or show that society bullies win! Jay was a naive guy, who at the heart of it all, is pretty decent. To show him come through this sends a message to those out there that society needs to look at situations and not judge. The thought we head back to the days of witchhunts or become some future hunger games society is worrying, and at the moment, media encourages it. If anything, I could see Abi/Jay reconnecting and I'd like to see peggy's last words make Phil remember all that Jay has done for him and apologise. If Ben/Ronnie can be forgiven for killing people, I think Jay can be forgiven for naively believing a 14 year old above the age of consent, especially when he didn't even sleep with her!

Being ousted from the Mitchells isn't necessarily a death knell - perhaps it can be the start of having more storylines about Jay himself rather than playing a bit part in Mitchell crisises.

Theres the possibility of an Abi reunion too

They never brought in Jay's mum. Now would be a good time for her to come in. Maybe she sees a news article of her paedo son and she comes running, as people tend to in EE.

Such a good storyline but such a ridiculous idea to give it to Jay. I really hate that the writers have done this. It's something Kirkwood would have done. I hope he finds redemption quick. This could be the making of Jay if the writers do right by it.

aBI ERGH !! Hasn't Jay been punished for nothing enough.

Where was she when she could have told the court of their courtship and nothing untoward took place?

Yes the subject is todays modern yeek a pedo....even when a non pedo act is disregarded,

My mother and grandmother told me of their younger days....Blokes chatted up etc,,,no harm was done,,,,,,,,But whoa chat em up today and it is imprisonment etc the worse thing for the inocents is the sex offenders register,,,,,,WHAT sexual offence for instance had jay done...proof SHE sent the images was there.. Wierd how history and the law join the media for latest outrages,

Anyway I see Jay as a future realistic 'hardman' To throw Jay away would be stupid of the cast-makers

Jay's mum died of breast cancer when was about 8 (I think). When he first appeared on the show, he'd been living with his gran, and then she died as well.

His granddad, Bert, is still alive, so they could bring him back.

I don't see why this needs to be the end of Jay. There's loads of potential storylines from this if the writers put the effort in.

It's time for Jay to go. He's had a good run, and longer than the character really deserved.

I've felt for a long time that producers have kept him only to shore up the Mitchell numbers. He's not been given anything other than support stuff up until recently. Is his latest story leading to his exit now that real Mitchells are coming in? Who knows but I wouldn't be in least bit shocked.

Jamie could do more but he could have done more for years now and hasn't.

Jamie was good as a young actor but I've long felt that he lost his spark somewhere along the way. His scenes are lacklustre and unconvincing. If he seriously wants a career in acting he needs to get out there and challenge himself....jump before he is pushed.
