UKTV Gold changed to GOLD and became a comedy only channel, W and GOLD are pay tv only... Online seems to be the way to go IIRC the BBC and ITV were planning on joining together to create a streaming subscription site maybe soaps could be planned?

Me too. There is certainly a niche market for it in the US; some cities w/ loyal, vibrant fan clubs.

My father was & still is on the board of directors for NTL Communications (which I believe put cable in the UK). And here I sit...still in a UK TV ghetto even though he's told me all television will go worldwide in my lifetime. Grrrrrr.

Wish I could remember more; think that they had over 50K.

Love this! Maybe Jen wanted to be the next Mrs Mitchell!

If the BBC want to demonstrate value for money, they should put a lot of older shows on iPlayer free of charge. There is no way anyone is going to buy every single episode of EE, but I think many would want to re-watch or watch from the start. I certainly would.

Obviously the episode count is high, but we live in a world where getting through 24 episodes of a 40 minute drama over 1 weekend is the norm. We are the box set generation, so I'm we could get through all of the episodes!

Uploading 2 episodes of EE a day from episode 1 would take around 7 and a half years to get through. The BBC isn't going anywhere, so why couldn't it? On average they do around 104 episodes a year, so they could even upload a whole years worth per month for people to work through - especially considering it only used to be on TV twice a week!
